The anesthesia technician provides technical and clinical support to the anesthesia care team pre-intra and post-procedure. The role supports safe, efficient anesthesia delivery by anticipating clinician needs, responding in emergencies. They prepare, inspect, troubleshoot and maintain anesthesia machines, monitors, airway devices and related equipment; assemble and restock supplies, emergency carts and assists with room setup, patient positioning/transfer, and equipment changes during cases. Ensure that all equipment and supplies follow Infection Control and manufacturer safety standards.

Additional Job Duties:

  • Provides supplies and equipment to each anesthetizing location in proper working order.

  • Prepare, maintain, and troubleshoot all types of anesthesia equipment (alarm systems, calibration and leak checking, medical gas cylinders, vaporizers, and ventilators).

  • Assist anesthesia providers with equipment and supplies needed for patient care (general anesthesia, epidurals, blocks, hemodynamic monitoring, IV pumps) and emergency care (code blue, difficult airway, bronchospasm, malignant hyperthermia crisis, local anesthetic systemic toxicity), Sterile set-ups (arterial lines, central lines, adult/pediatric cardiovascular).

  • Manage anesthesia carts medication inventory and restock anesthesia supplies.

  • Perform point of use cleaning and handling of contaminated instruments (laryngoscope blades, intubation scopes, TEE probes. LMA's).

  • Support the surgical team before, during, and after procedures, ensuring anesthesia equipment is clean, stocked and ready for next procedure.

  • Responsible for training new staff and conducting in-service training with existing staff, physicians, and CRNAs to keep them abreast of new procedures, protocols or the use of new equipment.

  • Maintain detailed records to ensure that all equipment and supplies are in compliance with Infection Control and manufacturer safety standards.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent- required

1 year Anesthesia Tech experience required in Operating Room setting.

ASATT (American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians) certification required or

2 years' experience as an anesthesia tech in lieu of certification

BLS required at time of hire
