Job Description:

Position Summary

The Lead Anesthesia Technician/Technologist will report to the Assistant Director of Main Operating Room and works under the direction of the Anesthesiologist. The Lead Anesthesia Technician/Technologist is responsible for the supervision of all other Anesthesia Techs to ensure routine duties are performed in a timely manner and in accordance with practice standards.

The Lead Anesthesia Technologist/Technician is responsible for the following:

  • Collaborates with the Charge Nurse in surgical and procedural areas to prioritize room turnover and set-up of anesthesia equipment and supplies for procedures with efficient and effective use of available resources.
  • Coordinates Anesthesia Tech activities, and delegates daily duties and assignments to facilitate efficient workflow and assistance with anesthesia care for patients.
  • Facilitates training of new hire employees and continuing education for Anesthesia Tech staff.
  • Develops standard work, determines work priorities and schedules to provide adequate staff coverage.
  • Works to resolve challenges encountered during daily operations and determines appropriate solutions; promotes teamwork.
  • Encourages regular communication, informs nursing staff of relevant workflow issues.
  • Serves as a resource and role model and helps resolve interpersonal conflicts.
  • Assists anesthesia providers and nurses by preparing and maintaining patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems before, during and after anesthesia.
  • Must maintain proficiency in the application, acquisition, preparation, and troubleshooting of various types of equipment required for the delivery of anesthesia care.

Experience

A minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Certified Anesthesia Technician at acute care hospital preferred.

Education

As necessary to obtain required certification.

Licensure/Certifications

Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT) certification preferred.

BLS certification required. ACLS certification preferred. PALS preferred.

The hours employees work determine when a shift differential is paid.
