Job description

In order to participate in Berklee Student Employment, a student must fulfill the following requirements:
  • Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
  • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.
  • Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
  • Remain in "valid" Visa status as applicable.
  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.
  • Federal Work Study student may apply.
  • In good disciplinary standing.
  • Must be located in the U.S.

The Mailroom Student Assistant supports the daily operations of Berklee's Mail Services by providing excellent customer service to students, faculty, and staff while assisting with the processing and distribution of campus mail and packages. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Receive, sort, and distribute incoming U.S. Mail, interoffice mail, and package deliveries.
  • Assist with processing outgoing mail and shipments using approved mailing and shipping procedures.
  • Notify students, faculty, and staff when packages are ready for pickup.
  • Verify identification and maintain accurate package tracking and pickup records.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by assisting members of the Berklee community with mail and shipping inquiries.
  • Organize and maintain mailroom storage areas to ensure efficient operations.
  • Assist with inventory of mailroom supplies and notify supervisors when replenishment is needed.
  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Support special campus mailings and projects as assigned.
  • Perform other related duties as needed.

Required Skills and Knowledge:
  • Experience working in a customer service or retail environment preferred, but not required.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
