Shipping & Receiving / Mailing Clerk
Position Summary
Sir Speedy Whittier is seeking a motivated, dependable, and detail-oriented Shipping & Receiving / Mailing Clerk to join our production team. This position is responsible for coordinating incoming and outgoing shipments, maintaining inventory accuracy, processing postal mailings, and supporting production operations. The ideal candidate will have experience in shipping and receiving, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing and mailing environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments for accuracy and condition.
  • Prepare outgoing shipments by packaging, labeling, and documenting materials for delivery.
  • Process customer orders, work orders, and shipping requests to ensure timely distribution.
  • Determine appropriate shipping methods based on destination, delivery requirements, and cost considerations.
  • Schedule and coordinate pickups with common carriers, including FedEx, UPS, and freight companies.
  • Maintain accurate records of all shipments, receipts, returns, and stock transfers.
  • Work closely with the Production Manager to monitor inventory levels and replenish shipping and receiving supplies.
  • Investigate and report discrepancies in shipments, inventory, or receiving documents.
  • Process outgoing mail using USPS mailing equipment and maintain accurate postal accounting records.
  • Operate high-speed inkjet equipment for envelope addressing and mailing applications.
  • Maintain organized warehouse and storage areas while ensuring a safe and secure work environment.
  • Assist with inventory counts, stock organization, and material movement throughout the facility.
  • Support production and mailing operations as needed to meet customer deadlines.
  • Foster professional, respectful, and cooperative relationships with coworkers, customers, vendors, and carriers.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years of shipping and receiving experience in a manufacturing, print, mail, or distribution environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written work orders and instructions accurately.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, CSV files, and data management processes.
  • Experience with NCOA processing and BCC Mail Manager or similar postal software preferred.
  • Experience using FedEx Ship Manager, UPS WorldShip, and USPS mailing systems.
  • Knowledge of postal metering equipment such as the Hasler IM5000 or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience operating or supporting inkjet addressing equipment such as the MCS Falcon 530 or similar systems preferred.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a team-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic math skills and strong organizational abilities.
  • Valid California driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Forklift certification preferred (or ability to obtain certification).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work overtime during peak production periods as required.
