Responsible for the delivery of US mail, internal mail pouches and parcels to on and off campus locations. Ability to sort various types of correspondence into delivery vehicle to insure the timely delivery of items. Ability to bring correspondence back to the main campus and perform delivery to end user or the mail room depending on items or protocol in place. Process Mail via a metered mailing machine, charging appropriate cost center number for mailings. Ability to perform order fulfillment in from warehouse inventory.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Includes but is not limited to the following:
  • USPS pick-up - Picks up from postal facility mail flats/ bins and loads into vehicle in safe manner. Off-loads mail bins off vehicle onto flatbed carts. Moves carts into mailroom, and line carts up in organized fashion.

  • Must be able to be insured under AMC driving insurance policy.

  • Vehicles - straight truck. Drives in a safe manner a truck with GVW of 18,000 between the main campus, and off-site warehouse, in addition to other locations as needed to meet customer needs. Adhere to all NYSDOT, federal, state and local laws and guidelines.

  • Vehicles - cargo vans. Drives in a safe manner Mini or Transit vans between the main campus and all AMC off site locations, in addition to other locations as needed to meet customer needs. Adhere to all NYSDOT, federal, state and local laws and guidelines.

  • Mail & Pouches - Ability to perform detailed pick-up and delivery of outbound US mail, inner office mail, pouches and parcels to various customers located on the Main campus and off-site locations.

  • Customer Service - Need to interact with customers ranging from Executive Management to Support Staff in a professional manner and have the ability to meet their needs in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Staging/ Sorting of mail - Physically separates mail so envelopes for each mail code are clustered together. Attaches paperwork and or rubber bands as necessary.

  • On Campus Mail Delivery - Physically stacks mail onto delivery carts and delivers mail to internal customers.

  • 22NSA - Performs the off-loading of mail and packages to ASA V. If filling in, will handle the floor-by-floor deliveries of inbound mail, pouches and packages; picks up outgoing mail and packages.

  • HIS - Performs HIS run, picks up boxes from E-1, and brings boxes to the HIS record area in the basement of 22NSA.

  • 1275 Warehouse- Provide help as directed by manager, supervisor or ISC as instructed for both the Inbound and Outbound departments. Utilizing a handheld device, receive and put away product for Inbound. Fulfill, wrap and process paperwork through handheld for Outbound department.

  • Outbound Mail Processing - Sorts and processes by Cost Center Number outbound US Mail. Follows both pre-sort and flat envelopes protocol.

  • STAT Request - Under the direction of Mailroom ASA V or appointee complete STAT request as directed.

  • Prioritization - Must be able to prioritize and make delivery / pickup decisions with the off-site location, AMC and patient care's best interest in absence of Mailroom ASA V, their appointee, manager or supervisor.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION, LICENSURE, REGISTRATION AND/OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum requirement: High school graduate or GED; valid NYS Driver's License.
  • Candidate must provide a copy of their Standard Driving Record (Abstract).

EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum 1 - 3-year experience in a service position involving supply chain, shipping and receiving.
  • Minimum of 1 - 3 years driving a commercial vehicle (i.e. van, non-CDL and CDL trucks).
  • Demonstrated basic level competency with Microsoft Windows.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop win-win relationships across various levels of Center Staff.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS:
  • Excellent people/ customer service orientation skills.
  • Innate curiosity to learn and understand relationships.
  • Knowledge of various Materiel Management software tools.
  • Ability to perform the job according to conduct defined by the AMC Code of Conduct and Employee Manual.
  • Ability to use good judgment when performing the functions of the job or when interacting with others.
  • Accept and carry out direction, work cooperatively with others and avoid interpersonal conflict.
  • Adhere to AMC's policies, procedures, and practices, and to utilize AMC's problem-solving processes for resolving grievances or disagreements.

REASONING ABILITY:
  • Independently organize work to meet established deadlines for timely supply and mail delivery.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employees are regularly required drive a motor vehicle and obey NYS traffic and motor vehicle laws. Regularly required to drive a vehicle for an 8-hour shift, and load and unload boxes and bags into, and out of their vehicle. May occasionally stand, for 8 hours if processing inbound / outbound mail, and or filling orders in an inventory site. May need to stoop, kneel, or crouch.
The employee must occasionally lift packages weighing up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus on objects.
Depending on assignment, the employee will be required to use USPS mailing machine.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environmental conditions described below are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

During other times, the employee will interact with customers in a healthcare campus environment or multi-specialty off campus practice site. Such areas have variable environmental conditions including noise, hallway traffic, chemicals, biohazards, and crowds. Room temperatures will be moderate.
