General Job Description

The function of the Mail Room Team Lead is to serve customers in every aspect, maintain store stock and appearance, and complete sales using a point-of-sales system to sustain cash and inventory levels.  We want team members who can provide outstanding customer service and take pride in the role they play on our team and on campus. The Mail Room Team Lead’s focus is to sort and receive incoming mail and packages and process outgoing mail daily. They will also be responsible for delivering mail and packages to departments on campus. We are seeking a candidate who excels in a fast-paced environment, handling high volumes of packages, and consistently meets daily targets. Someone who likes variety, building relationships, getting exercise, and being outside in all seasons. A successful team leader is someone who understands the process, wants to follow the process, and innovates to make the process even better.

Role Function

  • Creates a welcoming environment and builds rapport in the store and around campus
  • Engages and supports students, parents, staff, and faculty to promote sales, solve problems, and build relationships
  • Serves store customers in all capacities, including but not limited to point-of-sale operations by handling cash and credit card payments, phone calls, and online sale fulfillment and shipping
  • Assists with in-store receiving, locating textbooks, general merchandise, and print production (when applicable)
  • Shipping textbooks and general merchandise (when applicable)
  • Fulfills course material orders (when applicable)
  • General clerical responsibilities such as filing paperwork, typing simple documents/Excel spreadsheets, and emails to students when needed

Mail Room Responsibilities

  • Accept incoming mail from various mail carriers daily
  • Sort and receive incoming mail and packages for students and faculty in the Slingshot mail platform daily
  • Manage outgoing mail daily by applying the proper postage
  • Assist with the daily pick-up and delivery mail route on campus as needed
  • Utilize delivery locations and locators as needed
  • Shelve student mail and packages and maintain shelf accuracy
  • Assist customers with shipping outgoing mail
  • Troubleshoot mail room packages and paper mail
  • Complete all monthly billing processes

Role Function & Qualifications

  • Engages and supports students, parents, staff, and faculty to promote sales, solve problems, and build rapport
  • Receiving, Sorting and Tracking parcels and mail in the Slingshot mail platform
  • Delivering mail and packages (when applicable) all over campus with and/or without the use of a vehicle
  • Serving store customers in all capacities, including point-of-sale operations with handling cash and credit card payments, telephone calls (including voicemails and returning calls), and online sale fulfillment and shipping
  • Assist with in-store receiving, locating textbooks, general merchandise, and print production (when applicable)
  • Shipping of textbooks and general merchandise
  • Fulfilling textbook orders
  • General clerical responsibilities such as filing paperwork, typing simple Word and Google documents as well as Excel and Google spreadsheets, emails to students when needed
  • Be able to lift 50 pounds and carry heavy loads up and down stairways
  • Ability to carry, shelve, bend and stretch in the performance of campus store operations as well as stand for long periods of time
  • Supports the store manager with store operations and stands in during the store manager’s absence
  • Performs other duties as assigned

A valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record are required for this position.
