What You Will Do
The Mail Services Mail Clerk 4 (Materials Management Support 4) position is in the Materials Management Group (LOG-MM) of the Logistics Division (LOG). As a member of the Mail Services team, you will work under the direct supervision of the Mail Services Team Leader and will support Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) programs with mail delivery needs and classified needs, A1000 Recycle Program and other duties related to mail operations, as needed. Safety and Security are a primary responsibility for all Laboratory employees.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Familiarity with mail operations, including sorting and delivering large quantities of mail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including a commitment to teamwork, mentoring, and encouraging open communication skills.
  • Familiarity with computer based operating systems including FileMaker-Pro, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with processing, delivering, picking up and accounting for classified documents and parts through FED EX, UPS and USPS.
  • Strong Customer Service Skills
  • Commitment to safety, security, environment, quality, and diversity in the workplace.
  • Knowledge of implementing institutional policies and procedures.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs. safely.
  • Ability to obtain a Q clearance.
  • Valid Driver's License

Education Requirement: Position requires 5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level, additional training, certification, and/or education may be expected.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with US Postal regulations
  • Familiarity / Experience working with classified material
  • Familiarity with LANL sites and facilities both classified and unclassified.
  • Ability to process mail using Pitney Bowes Postage Machines.
  • Familiarity with processing Mail, including Registered, Certified, & Postal Express Mail.
  • Training including CMPC training and HMPT Training.
  • Active Q Clearance

Work Location: (can perform with or without reasonable accommodation) : The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance, and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
