Job description

The Language Producer, English (LPEN), Global Localization is responsible for ensuring that localization of Amazon MGM Studios Local Originals (LO) content into English maintains the overall creative vision and quality of the original version when dubbed and subtitled, while navigating the complexities of this more nascent industry segment, such as talent pools and audience receptivity.
Key job responsibilities
As a strategic leader, the LPEN researches market trends/developments to support expansion and maturation of the Premium English Dubbing Program. Working with the Culver City team, they drive iterative workflow and process improvements to raise the creative bar and support scalable solutions for all in-territory content. The LPEN will be comfortable discussing English dubbing and subtitling both high level and granularly; maintaining metrics for talent/vendors and providing escalations for internal/external resources. As primary contact for internal LO creative talent/stakeholders, the LPEN will provide localization updates related to their titles.
The LPEN monitors the performance of Creative Supervisors, responsible for creative quality and title-by-title localization of Amazon MGM Studios content. Additionally, the LPEN builds and maintains relationships with dubbing studios & their associated creative teams, to understand potential and available opportunities for programmatic improvements supporting talent development and cultivation. Working independently, the LPEN connects English language localization, the creative community, and Amazon MGM Studios' operational direction. Key responsibilities include maintaining talent databases, enforcing contractual standards, analyzing creative issues, monitoring industry trends, and exploring technological innovations while ensuring operational requirements in post-production and distribution are met.
About the team
Global Localization at Amazon MGM Studios is responsible for creating subtitled and/or dubbed versions of our content for more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. Our team ensures localized content conveys the original creative intent and is adapted with appropriate linguistic and cultural references for our global Customers. The team oversees the human, creative, and technical aspects of localization from greenlight through distribution. Our global Customers should relish the holistic quality of our product, as they enjoy the exclusive experience of material tailored just for them.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• English as primary language (written and spoken).
• 6+ years experience in Localization as dubbing director/supervisor, translator/adaptor; or equivalent experience working in global studio or post-production environment.
• Deep expertise in English language dubbing across various accents.
• Strong connections in major English language dubbing markets (LA, London). Work experience with in-territory English language dubbing community (actors, directors, dubbing studios). Awareness and knowledge of wider international & in-territory English language dubbing community.
• Proven ability to analyze quality metrics, implement process improvements.
• 6+ years experience in formulation & evaluation of new strategies & programs to streamline and simplify systems & methodologies. Ability to translate high-level vision into actionable plans with clear measurable goals.
• 6+ years experience directing freelance workers, also growing and developing creative teams.
• Familiarity with local audience localization preferences, customs, requirements & regulations.
• Direct experience working with global teams internationally via distributed workforce.
• Direct experience utilizing 3P post vendors & technical/workflow mechanisms from the beginning to end of episodic or feature content life cycles globally.
• Operational workflow awareness for domestic post-production. Comprehensive understanding of links between post-production & international delivery of day & date content.
• Understanding of & curiosity to explore machine learning or AI technologies to augment in-person work options.

• Advanced written and oral communication skills
• Professional working knowledge and established relationships with local dubbing studios, translators, adaptors, directors, creative talent, and unions
• Understanding of story structure and character development as it relates to their local language customer
• Competency of a wide array of media asset types and digital transport mechanisms
• Exceptional analytical skills to ensure projects meet established quality standards and customer expectations within budgetary and approved rate constraints
• Operational workflow awareness and understanding of links between post-production and international distribution

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $84,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
