Position Summary:
The FWS Library Attendant will play a key role in ensuring MIU's vast collection of knowledge and information is well organized and accessible to all patrons. With a focus on reorganization and optimizing our library layout, the attendant will support the smooth operation of our library, fostering an environment of ease, conducive to learning and research.

This position is ideal for students in any degree program who desire to be immersed in and surrounded by knowledge and literature, and who find joy in arranging, organizing, and creating order that will result in a tangible impact within MIU's library.
Experience Gained / Advantages for Student:
  • Gain practical experience in library operations and cataloging techniques.
  • Develop valuable skills in organization, attention to detail, and time management.
  • Learn how to navigate library management systems such as OCLC WorldCat and Inter-library Loan (ILL).
  • Enhance customer service skills by assisting patrons and supporting library staff.

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Organize and shelve library materials with precision and care, ensuring easy access for students and faculty.
  2. Identify and locate missing books within the library collections.

  4. Support the library front desk as needed, assisting with inquiries and checkouts.
  5. Help maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the library space, creating a welcoming environment for all visitors.
  6. Collaborate with library staff in revamping the new book section to enhance its appeal and accessibility.
  7. Stay up-to-date on library policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with established guidelines.
