About this Job The Department of Engineering Technology at Northwestern State University of Louisiana invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor to teach a course in Welding Technology during the Spring 2026 semester. The successful candidate will deliver both theoretical instruction and hands-on laboratory guidance to undergraduate students pursuing careers in Associate of Science in Engineering Technology with Advanced Manufacturing Concentration. The course focuses on "An introduction to the principles of shielded metal arc welding and cutting with a plasma torch and oxyfuels.

Safe handling and use of the welding equipment, consumables, and safety gears. Basic hands-on practices on various types of welding joints using arc welding cutting mild steel with Plasma torch and Oxyfuel." The instructor will be responsible for classroom instruction, lab supervision, assessment of student learning outcomes, and maintaining a safe and effective learning environment. Minimum Qualifications Associate degree in Welding Technology or closely related field; (Equivalent technical certificate + industry experience considered.) 3-5 years of professional welding experience (fabrication, construction, inspection, or related industry experience). Current welding certifications (A WS or equivalent) in applicable welding processes

Demonstrated proficiency in multiple welding processes ( e.g., SMAW, GMA W, GTA W, FCAW). Ability to interpret welding blueprints, symbols, specifications, and applicable welding codes. Strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to teach and mentor students

Meets state requirements for vocational/technical instructor eligibility at the postsecondary level. Job Duties and Other Information Teach the assigned Welding Technology course on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11:00 AM-1:0SPM. Provide instruction in welding theory and hands-on welding applications.

Demonstrate safe use of tools, equipment, and welding processes. Evaluate student performance through assignments, lab work, and examinations. Maintain accurate records of attendance and grades in accordance with NSU policies.

Ensure adherence to shop safety procedures and OSHA regulations. Prepare instructional materials, including syllabi, lesson plans. and assessments.

Support department goals and ABET-related student outcomes as applicable. Perform other duties related to effective instruction as assigned by the Department Head.
