Job Summary
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a twelve-month, non-tenure track Assistant Director of Resource Management and Discovery Librarian and Librarian Assistant Professor or Librarian Associate Professor faculty position in the University Libraries with a preferred start date of July 2026. Rank is determined at the time of hiring and will be commensurate with credentials. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia and will work in the Resource Strategy and Management Unit of the University Libraries.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the unit program management for eResources, cataloging, collection management, and systems
  • Closely monitor the new and renewed resources and ensure best practices in discovery
  • Serve as next-level elevation for concerns relating to the overall discovery, troubleshooting, and usability of library resources
  • Stay apprised of USG Consortium Cataloging, ERM, and discovery policies, procedures, problems, and discussions
  • Meet with team members routinely and communicate upwards any causes for concerns or new resources of note
  • Participate as a member of unit leadership and contribute to the development of unit goals, objectives, policies, procedures and service standards
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with KSU units, departments, centers, etc.
  • Engage in service to University Libraries, the campus, and/or the profession
  • Participate in scholarship, research, and/or creative activity. Contribute to the development of the library profession and/or subject-specific discipline through scholarship, presentations, and publications

Because our libraries are open 7 days a week and, in the evenings, this position will occasionally be required to work during these times to serve the needs of the students. This position will work on both the Kennesaw and Marietta campuses.
Required Qualifications
  • An earned terminal degree, or the foreign equivalent, appropriate to a contemporary research-intensive library, such as an MLIS, or other related equivalent terminal degree, or the foreign equivalent is required at the time of hire.
  • Two years experience working as a librarian in an academic library or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated experience in the area of discovery, electronic resources management, cataloging and/or library systems

Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Experience in an academic library
  • Familiarity with EBSCO Connect, Holdings and Link Management (HLM)
  • Familiarity with Library Management Systems (LMS) such as Alma
  • Experience in maintaining effective relationships, working collaboratively, and being on a team
  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail
  • Strong skills in critical thinking, follow-up, and investigation relating to library electronic and physical collections
