Job Overview:

MSD is seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and student-focused Health and PE Teacher. The ideal candidate will foster a dynamic learning environment, differentiate instruction to meet student needs, and collaborate with colleagues to enhance student participation in physical education.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Standards-Based Teaching: Deliver engaging health and PE lessons aligned with the Pennsylvania Academic Standards.
  • K12 Adaptability: Differentiate instruction seamlessly across all developmental stages, from kindergarten motor skills to high school personal fitness.
  • Inclusive Education: Modify activities and collaborate on IEPs/504 plans to accommodate students of all ability levels.
  • Health Literacy: Instruct classroom-based health units covering nutrition, mental wellness, and substance abuse prevention.
  • Safety Enforcement: Maintain a highly structured, risk-free environment by strictly enforcing safety rules and equipment guidelines.
  • Facility Management: Inspect and manage gymnasiums, locker rooms, athletic fields, and physical education equipment daily.
  • Student Assessment: Evaluate student performance based on skill development, participation, fitness growth, and cognitive understanding.
  • School Wellness Culture: Organize school-wide fitness events, field days, and initiatives that promote lifelong healthy habits.
  • Professional Compliance: Maintain accurate academic records and fulfill professional development requirements to keep PA certification active.
  • Community Partnership: Communicate regularly and professionally with parents, support staff, and school administrators regarding student progress.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Health & Physical Education.
  • Valid teaching certification/license in HPE K to 12.
  • Prior teaching experience.
  • Strong knowledge of HPE curriculum standards and instructional best practices.
  • Excellent classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to student-centered teaching and continuous improvement.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Experience with differentiated instruction and culturally responsive teaching.
  • Willingness to coach a sport at the Muhlenberg School District
  • Ability to support extracurricular HPE activities
