Your role and responsibilities:

This is a great opportunity to join ABB's Electrification Smart Power division Legal & Integrity team in the US! We're looking for someone well versed in commercial counsel that will be able to partner closely with business leaders and can lead self-sufficiently among a global team.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide strategic legal counsel and uphold the highest standards of integrity within ABB. Each day, you will ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards. You will also showcase your expertise by effectively managing legal risks and fostering a culture of integrity across the organization.
The work model for the role is hybrid out of either Cary, NC or Atlanta, GA.
You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Providing Legal & Integrity (L&I) related advice to ABB management and acting as an advisor to the business stakeholders.

  • Reviewing and negotiating contract, drafting commercial agreements and other contractual terms in collaboration with relevant business stakeholders and L&I team members, and overseeing contract management.

  • Monitoring legal affairs, including but not limited to litigations and activity reports and occupying a seat at the table on local strategic business matters.

  • Ensuring good corporate governance (including structuring, drafting, and negotiation) in your area of accountability within the country, with respect to Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) / divestiture transactions.


Qualifications for the role:
  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited U.S. law school with active bar admission and minimum 8+ years of experience in corporate/commercial law, preferably gained in multinational manufacturing / corporate environments and/or top-tier law firms.
  • Proven ability to manage fiduciary responsibilities, corporate governance, and operate effectively within a decentralized organization.
  • Strong business-focused legal judgment with experience in process improvement, risk mitigation, and optimization of legal operations.
  • Proficiency in contract review, drafting, and negotiation; mergers & acquisitions; and corporate secretarial functions, including filings and compliance.
  • Deep understanding of data privacy and protection laws, U.S. government contracting, contractor licensing, and related regulatory frameworks.
  • Familiarity with integrity, finance, treasury, risk management/insurance, and preferred experience in antitrust, IP, and IS/IT-related legal matters.
  • Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
