Job Description:

The Houston office of Brown Sims is seeking a Legal Assistant to join the team for its busy state and federal litigation (defense) division. Ideal candidates should have at least 5+ years of working at a law firm as a legal secretary/assistant. Experience working with three or more attorneys. Experience in insurance defense is a plus. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook Email, and Adobe. Knowledge of online court filings (both state and federal court) pursuant to Texas Rules of Civil Procedure. Knowledge of calendaring court deadlines. Candidate must be organized and have the ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment. Must have the ability to work independently.

Work Location: Houston, Texas 77056 (Galleria Area)

Job Type:

· Full-Time

· In-Office position

· Days: Monday - Friday

· Hours: 8:30am to 5:30pm; or 9:00am to 6:00pm

Required Qualifications:

· Minimum work experience of 5+ years as a Legal Secretary/Assistant

· Ability to work with 3 or more Attorneys

· Knowledge of Civil Litigation; Insurance Defense a plus

· Knowledge to E-File in both State and Federal courts

· Knowledge of calendaring deadlines pursuant to the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure

· Strong organizational and time management skills

· Knowledge of using Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook Calendaring
