Job Description
  • Brookfield is looking for a motivated individual with corporate legal experience to work on the Legal & Regulatory team, supporting real estate lending and loan closing operations. This position is located in our New York office.

Responsibilities:
  • Document Management
    • Manage and provide oversight and support of legal corporate records, including saving documents into iManage and as new versions and closing sets, including notification to appropriate teams of such documents
    • Support Books and Records regulatory requirements
    • Help administer protection of records containing personally identifiable information
  • Finance and Operations Summaries ("FOSs")
    • Manage FOS review and quarterly sign-off process with internal stakeholders for all real estate funds, including updating responsible persons, initiating quarterly sign-offs and tracking sign-offs
  • Assist with the preparation of legal documents, including confidentiality agreements and notices of authorized signatories/incumbency certificates
  • Side Letter "Giving & Receiving" Updates
    • Review side letter compendiums for funds and updates thereafter on a quarterly basis to track restrictions on political contributions, giving gifts, meals, etc.
  • Corporate Secretarial
    • Draft resolutions and other organizational documents
    • Coordinate all KYC information related to bank accounts; become fluent in anti-money laundering laws and requirements
  • Investor Questionnaires
    • Track common questions and "stock" responses in Compliance system
  • Track, collect, organize and save quarterly portfolio management board reports; escalate outstanding submissions
  • Maintain BPG Info site index, and track, collect, organize and save documents; escalate outstanding submissions
  • Track quarterly books and records approvals using Monday.com and spot check iManage to validate; escalate outstanding approvals
  • Reconcile lists of personnel, allocations and compliance designations to support staff allocation processes
  • Proofread and format PowerPoint presentations and Word documents

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years corporate paralegal/legal analyst experience
  • Corporate secretarial experience is a plus
  • Notary public is a plus
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, highly team-oriented and a commitment to professionalism
  • Ability to interact comfortably with executives and senior management
  • Proficiency in using a document management system, with knowledge of iManage a plus
  • Must be able to manage numerous projects simultaneously under deadline pressure

Salary Range: $90,000 - $130,000
Our compensation structure is comprised of a base salary and a short-term incentive program (cash bonus). Cash compensation tends to vary based on geography to account for local market conditions and is set to be market competitive. Compensation decisions are based on a number of factors including relative experience, overall years of experience, industry experience, education and designations.
