Overview

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for a System Administrator, supporting TOS II, at Arnold Air Force Base, TN. As a System Administrator, you will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for design, support and maintenance of IT Systems and Peripherals for the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.

Open to internal and external candidates. The selected candidate for this requisition may be required to occasionally work outside normal business hours.

Job Summary

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) is the team selected by the U.S. Air Force to conduct Test and Operations Sustainment at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) at Arnold Air Force Base in Tennessee.  AEDC operates more than 55 aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, space environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges and other specialized units located in six states. Many of the complex's test units have capabilities unmatched elsewhere in the United States; some are unique in the world. AEDC is one of three installations which are part of the Air Force Test Center (AFTC), one of six subordinate commands of the Air Force Materiel Command organization, and an important national resource.

AEDC's mission is to conduct developmental test and evaluation for the Nation through modeling, simulation, and ground and flight test.  Execution of the mission requires a large team of highly qualified and dedicated professionals from multiple technical disciplines to effectively accomplish the objectives of our test customers.

 

 

Job Duties:

  • Deploy, configure, and optimize Windows and Linux environments, managing server roles and features like Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Manage and maintain the VMware virtualization infrastructure, including design, deployment, upgrades, and storage/network configuration to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Provide advanced Tier 2/3 technical support to end-users and contractors, troubleshooting complex hardware, software, and network issues across diverse operating systems.
  • Continuously monitor system performance, diagnose issues, and perform patch management and vulnerability remediation using enterprise tools like SCCM and WSUS.
  • Develop, maintain, and deploy standardized Windows images using WDS, MDT, and SCCM for rapid enterprise-wide provisioning.
  • Implement and manage robust backup and disaster recovery strategies, including regular testing of restore procedures to ensure data integrity.
  • Enforce and audit system security by hardening configurations, managing access controls with Active Directory and GPOs, and ensuring compliance with DoD cybersecurity standards.
  • Automate routine administrative tasks, system configurations, and reporting by developing and deploying PowerShell and Linux shell scripts.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable system improvements, leveraging virtualization, containerization, and cloud technologies.
  • It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT-related field plus 5 - 10 years of progressively relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must currently possess or commit to obtaining any requisite certifications required for assuming administrative role in accordance with DoD 8140 within 6 months of hiring date.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and access to the AEDC local area network.
  • Current US Citizenship required.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive experience with Windows imaging and deployment using WDS, MDT, SCCM, including creation and maintenance of custom images.
  • Deep expertise in configuring and troubleshooting Linux (including Red Hat Enterprise Linux), Windows Server OS, and enterprise storage solutions such as NetApp ONTAP and Red Hat IdM.
  • Proficiency in managing DNS, DHCP, and network services in dynamic enterprise environments.
  • Skilled in scripting languages, primarily PowerShell, Bash, and Python, for automation and orchestration.
  • Strong understanding of virtualization (VMware vSphere, Citrix XenDesktop/XenApp).
  • Knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, SSH) and network security best practices.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills in complex multi-platform environments.
  • Effective communicator with proven teamwork abilities and technical documentation skills.
  • Microsoft Certification for Windows Server and Windows Domain management (e.g., MCSA, MCSE).
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) and or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE).
  • VMware Certification (e.g., VCP-DCV, VCAP).
  • Citrix Certification (e.g., CCA-V, CCP-V)
