Job Summary
The instructional designer position requires a person with expertise in learning theories, instructional design models, and teaching, evaluation and educational technology strategies. The main role is to develop instructional materials and design courses in any teaching modality facilitating the student learning process, and promoting an active learning community in order to enhance enrollment, retention, and academic performance.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop courses aligned with the University Educational Model and instructional design best practices.
  • Create and maintain course content, modules, and activities that promote active and collaborative learning.
  • Integrate generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools to enhance course design, instructional materials, and learning activities.
  • Implement institutional guidelines and parameters for generating multimedia content using AI technologies.
  • Ensure all course materials comply with copyright laws and institutional quality standards.
  • Develop tutorials, guides, and learning activities that support both faculty and students in platform navigation and academic success.
  • Participate in the design, implementation, and evaluation of the institutional Distance Learning Development Plan.
  • Ensure that all courses meet the institution’s policies and criteria, as well as requirements from accreditation agencies.
  • Collaborate with the Instructional Design Department and Student Affairs Dean to review course functionality, effectiveness, and accessibility.
  • Conduct quality checks (QA) to confirm consistency in course design, instructional flow, and learning outcomes.
  • Support continuous improvement through course updates and redesign based on feedback and evaluation results.
  • Integrate digital tools, simulations, and learning technologies that improve instructional delivery and student engagement.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging AI tools, instructional design trends, and educational technologies, applying them appropriately to course design and development.
  • Recommend budget options for the adoption of new distance learning technologies.

Requirements
  • Bachelor and Master Degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology or Curriculum
  • Fluently in English required
  • Being skilled in using basic Microsoft Office programs (Word, Power Point, Excell, etc.)
  • Knowledge in Internet browsing, electronic communication, and most desirable, fair knowledge of one or more learning management systems (LMS) currently used, as well as the tools available in Web 2.0.
  • Be skillful in basic math operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division), as well as average and percentage calculations
  • Ability to identify problems and suggest solutions.
