The Lead HRIS Analyst serves as a senior functional and technical expert for Workday HCM, providing strategic guidance, hands-on configuration, and ongoing optimization across key modules. This role ensures Workday is leveraged to support business processes and enable operational excellence.

The ideal candidate brings deep HRIS expertise, advanced Workday configuration skills, and proven experience leading cross-functional projects with a preference for expertise in Workday payroll.

Responsibilities

System Configuration & Optimization

  • Lead configuration, testing, and deployment of enhancements across Workday HCM modules, including;
    • Payroll
    • Security Administration
    • Time & Absence
    • Benefits
    • Advanced Compensation
  • Translate business requirements into solutions and recommend design improvements to enhance efficiency and compliance.
  • Design, build, and maintain business processes, condition rules, calculated fields, custom validations, and notifications/alerts.
  • Ability to define and understand functional and data requirements for integrations, while collaborating closely with the integration developer

Production Support & Issue Resolution

  • Serve as the escalation point for complex system issues, troubleshooting root causes, and ensuring timely resolution.
  • Maintain system integrity and data accuracy through audits, testing, and ongoing monitoring.
  • Manage biannual Workday releases, including impact analysis, regression planning, and configuration updates.

Data, Reporting & Security

  • Design and maintain advanced reports, dashboards, and analytics solutions to support HR and business leaders.
  • Oversee Workday security configuration, including role administration, access controls, and audit compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to data privacy, regulatory requirements, and internal governance standards.

Project Leadership

  • Lead Workday-related projects, from scoping and requirements gathering to design, testing, and deployment.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders on cross-functional projects.
  • Influence process improvements, standardization, and best practice adoption.
  • Support training and knowledge transfer within the HRIS team.

Stakeholder Support

  • Act as an adviserย to HR and business stakeholders, offering guidance on Workday capabilities, process improvements, and system optimization.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 10+ years of HRIS experience with at least 6+ years of Workday HCM configuration.
  • Hands-on experience configuring multiple Workday modules, including Payroll, Time & Absence, Benefits, Security, and/or Compensation.
  • Experience building Workday reports and configuring dashboards. ย 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional projects and work independently.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Workday Payroll Certification
  • Workday Pro Security Certification
  • Experience with complex report building including composite reports.
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following platforms: UKG, iCIMS, OnBase.
  • Knowledge of HR operations, compliance, and payroll processes.
  • Experience mentoring or guiding HRIS analysts or other lead experience.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $120,931 to $191,131, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.Although Fred Hutch is not sponsoring most H-1B visas at this time, candidates who already hold an H-1B sponsored by another organization and are currently in the U.S. may be eligible for this position.Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers employees a comprehensive benefits package designed to enhance health, well-being, and financial security.
