NOW HIRING: Lab Services Manager
Compensation: $70,000-$90,000 per year
Job Overview
The Lab Services Manager will be responsible for directing company programs and implements company policy to ensure total compliance with contract duties between company and customer. The manager will coordinate and direct operations necessary to carry out contractual responsibilities of the company, including all necessary planning, supervision, budgeting, vendor and supplier contract, customer relations and other high level managerial or supervisor responsibilities.
Roles & Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully and safely, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Plan and develop work schedules for service personnel, and assigns personnel to routes to ensure adequate service
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Laboratory Services Department up to but not limited to; Laboratory, Hazardous and Regulated medical waste streams and daily laboratory glass wash operations
  • Assist research staff with procedural questions on waste removal, shipping and receiving, package tracking, laboratory moves and clean-outs
  • Input laboratory services metrics into SBM InSite
  • Assist in 5S/Lean processes projects as applicable
  • Oversee monthly DPCC and weekly RCRA regulatory inspections and reports
  • Inspect and maintain physical condition of establishment for program compliance, i.e. safety, quality, and service
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, such as, FLSA, OSHA, ADA, etc.
  • Audit and maintain inventory supplies and equipment
  • Investigate new and promote improved equipment and methods
  • Maintain and report on financial part of business, such as, labor hours, overhead, supplies, expenses, billing, forecasting and ensures that site meets budget goals on a sustaining basis
  • Analyze and facilitate budget requests to identify areas in which reductions can be made
  • Establish and maintain contact with contractor to ensure the smooth working of the contract process
  • Conduct and attend meetings to communicate top down, and bottom up on a consistent real time basis, with customers, clients, and employees
  • Assist in the promotion of services performed to develop new markets, increase share of market, and obtain competitive position in industry
  • Assist with human resource concerns and issues
  • Assist in the development of long-range plans, conceptual designs, and capital outlay requirements for program/process improvements
  • Direct supervisory management engaged in support of facilities programs
  • Act as liaison between company, customers, clients, employees, and subcontractors

Qualification

Education and/ or Experience
Bachelor's degree in science field - preferred
A minimum of two to three years of experience in planning and / or facility operations
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid Driver's License to operate company or personal vehicles
Supervisory Responsibilities
Manages subordinate supervisors who supervise employees performing facilities support services. Is responsible for the direction, coordination, and evaluation of each account. Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning, and directing work; performance evaluations; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Ensure employees are properly trained on tasks and safety requirements.
