Vanta Diagnostics is a rapidly growing, CAP- and CLIA-certified national laboratory delivering targeted molecular diagnostics designed to improve both clinical and economic outcomes. We are looking for a dynamic Data Entry clerk in our Tampa lab location. This role is an overnight role with hours being either 10p.m - 6a.m. OR 4a.m. - 12 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The Data Entry Specialist is responsible for accurately entering patient, physician, specimen, and billing information into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) to support timely and accurate laboratory operations. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to interpret clinical information, and a commitment to maintaining data integrity and compliance with laboratory procedures.

  • Accurately enter patient demographics, referring physician information, insurance and billing details, and other required data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy and productivity while performing data entry functions in accordance with laboratory quality standards and established error-rate expectations.
  • Review requisitions for completeness and contact physicians' offices or other healthcare providers to obtain missing or unclear information.
  • Interpret specimen site descriptions, clinical impressions, diagnoses, and related documentation to accurately enter and categorize information within the LIS.
  • Determine and assign appropriate specimen topography and other relevant laboratory data.
  • Prepare, complete, and maintain required paperwork, reports, and supporting documentation.
  • Provide backup support for specimen receiving and other clerical or administrative functions as needed to ensure efficient laboratory operations.
  • Follow all laboratory safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information and comply with all applicable HIPAA and privacy regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a clerical, administrative, medical billing, healthcare, laboratory, or data processing environment.
  • Experience working with laboratory information systems or electronic medical records.
  • Basic computer operations and word processing applications.
  • Medical terminology.
  • Human anatomy and physiology.
  • Quality assurance, client service, and laboratory safety practices.
  • Data processing and billing principles and techniques.
  • Proficient in operating a personal computer and standard office software applications.
  • Typing proficiency of at least 60 words per minute.
  • Strong spelling, grammar, and punctuation skills.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including copiers, scanners, calculators, multi-line telephone systems, and fax equipment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and follow detailed instructions, procedures, and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

The hourly rate for the role is $18-$20/hour.
