Job description

Lab Technician (1 Month Contract - Part-time)
UPDATE 7/8 - The hours have officially been bumped up to 20 hours per week. Monday through Friday will be the schedule (4 hours per day).
Location: Waltham, MA
Hours: 8:00am - 12:00pm (Monday - Friday) *

  • Schedule is flexible

Notes:

  • This will be a 30 day contract, but it is likely to renew month-to-month. They will just give us a heads up 10 days before the contract is up.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Perform core lab support operations, including autoclave use, glass washing, buffer and media preparation, and maintaining adequate PPE stock for daily lab needs.
  • Support lab safety and compliance activities by managing chemical and biological waste, and completing routine inspections of safety equipment such as eyewash stations and safety showers.
  • Assist with equipment upkeep and service coordination, including basic preventative maintenance tasks, and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external vendors to support lab operations.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Educational background: High School Diploma
  • Technical skills: Proficiency in laboratory procedures, handling of instrumentation, has previous experience working in a highly regulated laboratory environment, Microsoft Office Proficiency
  • Attention to detail: Ensuring accuracy in documentation, data entry
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking: Troubleshooting equipment and experimental issues.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols: Proper handling of equipment, chemicals, gowning, etc.
