The Puget Sound Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) and Measurement Systems team is responsible for supporting design, development, production programs, and in-service aircraft systems. The team provides certification and qualification services across the value stream for NDE and measurement technologies and supports a wide range of commercial and defense aircraft including:

The team also performs research and development activities with both internal stakeholders and external customers. This role spans the entire product lifecycle—from research and development through active airframe support.


The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong communication skills and a desire to work with both technical and non-technical teams. Candidates should possess foundational NDE knowledge and/or experience, along with analytical skills to evaluate failures, materials, tools, and processes.

Experience creating NDE inspection procedures for commercial and commercial-derivative aircraft is highly preferred.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop NDE procedures supporting airline customer maintenance inspections
  • Design NDE reference standards to support inspection procedures
  • Develop engineering specifications and supporting documentation
  • Assist in evaluating emerging technologies for potential applications
  • Support development and qualification of new tools, equipment, materials, parts, and processes
  • Perform routine tests and supplier audits to verify compliance with applicable requirements
  • Support implementation of corrective and preventive actions
  • Utilize project management tools to support cost, schedule, and technical objectives
  • Incorporate Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), LEAN, and Quality principles into:
    • Materials and processes
    • Research, design, and qualification efforts
    • Work procedures
    • Laboratory and office environments


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in:
    • Engineering
    • Computer Science
    • Mathematics
    • Physics
    • Chemistry
  • Minimum 1+ years of engineering experience


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with CAD systems such as:
    • CATIA
    • SolidWorks
  • Experience with NDI/NDE systems:
    • Ultrasonics
    • Eddy Current
  • Experience in aviation and/or aerospace industries
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong technical writing and documentation abilities
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with engineering tools
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
  • Knowledge of materials science, including metals and/or composite materials
