Apprentice Cook
POSITION PURPOSE:
Supports as well as helps chefs, cooks, broiler cooks to ensure a smooth service to the guests internal or external. Performs all tasks directed by supervisors. Ensures service standards are with internal and external. Ensures all food and beverage outlet operations are to Clark County Health Department standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Valid work cards are to be on you and your Team Members at all times during your shift.
  2. Must conduct yourself in a manner that reflects a positive, professional image.
  3. Must maintain a professional personal grooming and uniform standard per your position.
  4. Have complete knowledge of MSDS booklet and locations.
  5. Displays knowledge of all emergency procedures.
  6. Treats all members of the staff with care, dignity, fairness, respect and recognition.
  7. Must work productively with direct/indirect supervisors and peers.
  8. Displays and encourages teamwork within the departments.
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:
  1. Knowledge of kitchen operations and flow of foods.
  2. Knowledge of kitchen equipment and its operations.
  3. Works with team members to ensure guest satisfaction internal and external.
OTHER:
  1. Regular attendance to conform to the standards of the company.
  2. Must follow established company rules and regulations.
  3. Communicates with department supervisors and members of the staff to ensure smooth transitions of shifts and tasks.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL and ABILITY:
  1. Must be able to lift 50 pounds of product and push up to 250 pounds on a cart.
  2. Must be able to go from extreme temperature of -10 degrees to 120 degrees at any given time.
  3. Position requires the physical ability to stand for long periods at a time. Walk frequently, stoop, bend or reach to a height of 6 feet.
  4. This position requires normal/corrective vision ranges and the absence of color blindness enabling the individual to perform or instruct the tasks required.
  5. This position requires good eye to hand coordination enabling the individual to perform or instruct the tasks required.
  6. This position requires normal sense of smell, taste, touch and sound enabling the individual to perform or instruct the tasks required.
  7. Ability to read, speak and communicate effectively.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Working knowledge of kitchens, kitchen equipment and basic food handling techniques with no less than 6 months in a kitchen operation.
Licenses or Certificates: Ability to obtain all government / county required licenses or certificates.
