JOB DESCRIPTION:
To improve the academic achievement of at-risk students through the implementation of content TEKS, campus and District instructional initiatives, and modeling high quality instructional practices to best meet the needs of all students.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Disaggregate data using various software programs including Eduphoria, Excel, ViewIt and Branching Minds, etc., to improve instructional strategies.
  2. Assist with the security and maintenance of records for all test instruments used in Grades PK-12.
  3. Monitor systems that track progress of all student groups.
  4. Assist with planning and conducting staff development meetings and appropriate training.
  5. Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the District staff development model and all best practice components.
  6. Demonstrate understanding of District and campus demographics and special programs such as 504, Bilingual, SpEd, RtI, ESL, Dyslexia, etc., and provides authentic instructional strategies in such programs.
  7. Take initiative with curriculum, instruction and staff development activities.
  8. Use masterful presentation skills when training, and demonstrate ease of performance.
  9. Evaluate the quality of available instructional materials.
  10. Problem solve in difficult situations.
  11. Analyze District and campus data, as well as make provisions for aligned instructional strategies/interventions.
  12. Support appropriate use of technology in the teaching/learning process for students.
  13. Recommend ways in which curriculum and instruction can be adjusted to meet the special learning needs of struggling learners.
  14. Inform teachers and administrators of major trends and developments in instruction, curriculum and assessment.
  15. Organize intervention planning and remediation for students failing sections of STAAR, common assessments, district benchmarks or those students needing additional academic and/or social-emotional intervention
  16. Participate as an integral team member of the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) team.
  17. Maintain confidentiality of information.
  18. Regular attendance.
  19. Other duties as assigned.

ASSIGNMENTS TO VIRTUAL INSTRUCTION:
  1. Seamlessly integrate District-approved online learning platforms and required software into the planning, delivery, and support of virtual instruction.
  2. Plan, prepare, implement, and evaluate lessons and activities during the standard work hours of the campus at which the teacher is assigned, as well as prolonged or irregular hours.
  3. Be able to communicate with students, parents, and campus and District personnel during the standard work hours of the campus at which the teacher is assigned, as well as prolonged or irregular hours.
  4. Adhere to all professional responsibilities and deadlines including professional communication and responsiveness.
  5. Be flexible, responsive, and positive with students, parents, and staff.
  6. Effectively translate CISD Best Practices into the virtual instructional setting.
  7. Regularly attend and apply District-approved professional development in the most up-to-date practices associated with virtual instruction.
  8. Accurately and timely obtain and report required student data, including attendance, grades, etc.
  9. Dress professionally as you would if you were offering instruction to students in a traditional, in-person setting.
  10. Teach and interact with students from a quiet space, free from distraction, where appropriate confidentiality rules can be followed.
  11. Create a virtual classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  12. Provide small group and tutoring opportunities for students who are experiencing difficulty in their learning.
  13. Support any extracurricular activities for which you are responsible according to District guidelines.
  14. Attend all required campus and District meetings.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Three years of successful classroom teaching experience in grade level/content measured by state/federal assessments such as STAAR, TELPAS, etc.
  • Experience in development and delivery of staff development presentations
  • Experience in development of curriculum
  • Experience in facilitating and/or working with teams
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university
  • Valid teaching certificate

Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Working knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and staff development
  • Ability to interpret policy, procedures, data
  • Strong organization, communication, interpersonal skills
  • Strong background in content area instruction and assessment
  • Strong knowledge of instructional strategies for students
