Deputy Program Manager

26-037

Invariant Corporation is seeking a high-performing Deputy Program Manager to support execution of a Department of War weapons development contract and serve as a key extension of the Program Manager. This role helps drive day-to-day integration, coordination, and execution across functional teams while ensuring disciplined follow-through on program priorities. The Deputy Program Manager must be capable of operating across technical, operational, contractual, and customer-facing matters and stepping in for the Program Manager as required. This position is contingent upon contract award.

Duties Include:

  • Support the Program Manager in the execution of all contractual program requirements.
  • Help coordinate day-to-day execution across engineering, test, operations, supply chain, quality, finance, and contracts.
  • Drive action item closure, issue resolution, and cross-functional alignment.
  • Monitor program performance against cost, schedule, and technical objectives.
  • Assist with preparation of customer briefings, status reports, milestone reviews, and internal governance reviews.
  • Support development and maintenance of program plans, staffing plans, risk registers, and recovery actions.
  • Track and escalate execution gaps, emerging risks, and schedule threats.
  • Coordinate with the Integrated Master Scheduler to ensure schedule health and actionable reporting.
  • Support subcontractor and supplier execution tracking in coordination with supply chain and contracts personnel.
  • Ensure timely completion of deliverables, data submittals, meeting actions, and internal commitments.
  • Stand in for the Program Manager in meetings, reviews, and customer interactions when required.
  • Help establish and maintain a high-discipline operating rhythm across the program.
  • Ensure adherence to DoD acquisition processes, program security requirements, and compliance with applicable regulations (ITAR, DFARS, NIST)
  • Mentor junior program staff and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and mission focus

Requirements:

  • Candidate must have a minimum of a Bachelors degree in Engineering or Business with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship is a requirement for positions requiring a Security Clearance
  • US Passport- for required travel
  • Experience supporting execution of complex DoW development programs.
  • Ability to work across multiple functions and keep teams aligned on priorities, deadlines, and dependencies.
  • Experience tracking program actions, risks, and deliverables in a structured execution environment.
  • Strong understanding of program management fundamentals, including cost, schedule, risk, and stakeholder management.
  • Ability to identify execution problems early and drive coordinated corrective action.
  • Experience supporting customer meetings, executive reviews, and program status reporting.
  • Familiarity with subcontractor coordination and development program integration.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in hardware development, integration and test, or defense system development environments preferred.
  • Understanding of & experience with multiple contract types and regulations (FAR 15, 16, OT & CPFF, FFP, and T&M)
  • Familiarity with C-UAS operations
  • Familiarity with weapons system development
  • Ability to travel up to 25% CONUS & OCONUS

Preferred skills:

  • Experience serving in a deputy PM, chief of staff, CAM, or senior program operations role.
  • Familiarity with IMSs, CDRLs, and formal DoW program reporting.
  • Experience supporting weapons, missile, energetics, UAS, C-UAS, or related defense development efforts.
  • PMP certification or equivalent program management training.
  • Active security clearance.
  • Experience with proposal transition to execution.

Work Environment:

  • Sitting for extended periods of time at desk, in telecoms/meetings with peers, management
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to use stairs for access between floors and multiple buildings at customer worksites and Invariant facilities during travel.

This position is expected to be performed only in the state of Alabama.
