Job description

Position Summary
The Instructor Maintenance develops and delivers training to JetBlue Airways' Technical Operations crewmembers and business partners focused on aircraft systems.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Facilitate classroom and on the job training (OJT)
  • Assist with the revision of Technical Operations training program for JetBlue University, College of Technical Operations
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma
  • Valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant License
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge
  • Five (5) years of diversified experience in aircraft maintenance
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (40%)
  • Must be in possession of valid travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States
  • Ability to drive tugs, trucks, taxi aircraft, lift trucks, snorkel lift, boom lift and tractor and/or other maintenance vehicles
  • Ability to communicate effectively; in both oral and written communication
  • Ability to crawl, bend, kneel, climb, and stoop frequently in confined spaces
  • Ability to work under pressure in a team environment
  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver License and a driving record from the state of your primary residence that meets JetBlue Airways' insurance standards
  • Ability to remain alert to moving vehicles and aircraft
  • Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Preferred Experience and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Three (3) years of A320/E190 maintenance experience
  • Three (3) years of Instructor experience
  • Three (3) years of Leadership Experience
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communicator and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and willingness to settle for nothing short of excellence
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Crewmember Expectations
  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
  • Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun
  • Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue's Safety Management System
  • Promote JetBlue's #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue's Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards
  • Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue's confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))
  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
  • Uphold JetBlue's safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
  • The use of ChatGPT or any other automated tool during the interview process will disqualify a candidate from being considered for the position.

  • Obtain tools listed on the Minimum Tool List within thirty (30) days of employment
  • Operate lift trucks, snorkel lift, boom lift and tractor after attending training
  • Issued reflective safety vest and ear protection
  • Ability to use handheld two way radios, headsets and/or phone

  • Bids work schedule by seniority (days, swings, or midnight shift, holidays)
