RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)
- Physician shall be responsible for providing Oncology care, including, but not limited to: Diagnosis, evaluation, and management of various disease conditions related to Oncological disease or coagulopathies.
- Provide consultative services at the patient's bedside if the patient is not ambulatory and, in the clinic, setting if the patient can report to the outpatient clinic.
- pproximate clinical load per FTE is as follows: 5 hours of inpatient coverage per week; 26 hours of bookable clinical time per week. The remaining duty time dedicated to clinical follow-up and other assigned tasts as tumor board discussions. For bookable clinical time, approximate case load is 2 patients per hour.
- Be on-call to evaluate and treat Oncologist consults, clinic, and chemotherapy patients. Extensive inpatient and outpatient teaching of medical students and medical residents required.
- Provide inpatient and outpatient teaching of medical students and medical residents required.
- Provide discharge education and follow up instructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all Hematology/Oncology clinical patients.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement activities and meetings with committee participation as required by the VAMC Chief of Service, Chief of Staff, or designee.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
- Must be board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).
- Must have current license to practice medicine in any state, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
- Must have current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) as certified by the American Heart Association (AHA).
