Job Summary:
The IT Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and security of the organization's overall IT infrastructure. This dual-focus role covers both system administration (servers, storage, cloud) and network engineering (LAN/WAN, firewalls, connectivity). The successful candidate will ensure high availability, optimal performance, and robust security across enterprise systems while providing technical support and participating in infrastructure improvement projects to meet evolving business needs.
Key Responsibilities & Essential Duties
Systems & Server Administration
  • Manage and maintain Windows Server and Linux environments, including client-side systems (Windows 10/11).
  • Administer core directory and infrastructure services: Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, WSUS, and SQL Server.
  • Manage virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V) and execute capacity planning and performance optimization.
  • Oversee enterprise messaging and collaboration platforms, including Exchange and Web Servers.

Network Design & Security Operations
  • Design, deploy, and manage LAN, WLAN, and WAN infrastructure, including routers, switches, and wireless access points (e.g., Cisco, HPE Aruba).
  • Implement and manage network security: Firewalls (Palo Alto, Fortinet), VPNs, IDS/IPS, and Anti-Virus/Anti-Spam solutions.
  • Monitor network traffic, enforce security policies, and proactively remediate vulnerabilities to safeguard corporate data.
  • Manage network segmentation and access control lists (ACLs) to ensure a secure internal environment.

Cloud & Hybrid Connectivity
  • Support and optimize cloud infrastructure (AWS, Microsoft Azure) and Microsoft 365 services (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive).
  • Manage hybrid connectivity solutions, including MPLS, SD-WAN, and seamless cloud-to-on-premise integration.

Monitoring & Observability
  • Utilize industry-leading monitoring and observability platforms-such as Datadog, Zabbix, PRTG, LogicMonitor, or Prometheus/Grafana-to ensure system health and network performance.
  • Establish proactive alerting and dashboarding to minimize downtime and optimize resource utilization.

Backup, Recovery & Business Continuity
  • Implement and maintain robust backup and recovery solutions, with a focus on Veeam Backup & Replication and Veritas (NetBackup/Backup Exec).
  • Develop and regularly test Disaster Recovery (DR) plans to ensure data protection and business continuity.
  • Manage storage infrastructure and ensure data integrity across repositories.

Troubleshooting & Project Support
  • Provide Tier 2/3 technical support for escalated hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Participate in IT infrastructure projects, including office expansions, system upgrades, and server migrations.
  • Develop automation scripts (PowerShell, Python, or Bash) to streamline repetitive tasks and improve operational efficiency.

Documentation & Collaboration
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, including network diagrams, system configurations, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Communicate effectively in English with internal teams, management, and external vendors to ensure project alignment.

Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 2 years (2+ years) of professional experience in System or Network Administration.

Technical Knowledge & Abilities
  • Systems: Proficiency in Windows/Linux OS and M365 Administration.
  • Networking: Solid grasp of TCP/IP, VLANs, Routing/Switching, and SD-WAN.
  • Security: Hands-on experience with Palo Alto or Fortinet firewall management.
  • Backup: Familiarity with Veeam or Veritas backup software suites.
  • Virtualization: Practical experience in VMware or Hyper-V environments.
  • Scripting: Ability to use PowerShell, Python, or Bash for system/network automation.
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical problem-solving skills and the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.

Preferred Certifications
  • Cisco (CCNA), Fortinet (NSE4), or Palo Alto (PCCET/PCNSA).
  • Veritas or Veeam related technical certifications.
  • Microsoft Certified (Azure Administrator or M365 Fundamentals).
