Job description

Oxygen Oasis Hyperbaric Wellness Center is seeking an experienced Medical Front Desk & Insurance Verification Coordinator to join our specialty medical practice in Langhorne, PA.

This is not simply a receptionist position. We are looking for someone who understands medical insurance, patient access, scheduling, collections, and the importance of accurate documentation. The right candidate will be comfortable speaking with insurance companies, explaining benefits and financial responsibility to patients, and managing the front desk with professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail.

Experience in hyperbaric medicine is not required. We can teach the clinical specifics of our practice. Strong medical-office and insurance-verification experience is much more important.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Answering incoming patient calls and responding professionally to prospective and established patients
  • Scheduling new-patient consultations and treatment appointments
  • Collecting complete demographic and insurance information
  • Verifying insurance eligibility and detailed medical benefits
  • Contacting insurance companies through payer portals and by telephone
  • Determining deductibles, copays, coinsurance, out-of-pocket responsibilities, and authorization requirements
  • Documenting insurance verification conversations thoroughly and accurately
  • Communicating anticipated patient financial responsibility clearly and respectfully
  • Collecting and posting patient payments
  • Following up on missing information, authorizations, referrals, and outstanding patient balances
  • Maintaining accurate information within the practice-management system
  • Supporting charge entry, billing, and revenue-cycle processes as needed
  • Maintaining patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
  • Helping ensure that each patient receives a welcoming, organized, and professional experience from the first phone call through treatment

What We Are Looking For

Medical insurance experience is required.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • At least 2 years of medical front desk, patient access, insurance verification, billing, or revenue-cycle experience
  • Hands-on experience verifying medical insurance benefits—not simply confirming that coverage is active
  • Experience using insurance-company websites and payer portals
  • Experience calling insurance carriers to obtain detailed benefits
  • A strong understanding of deductibles, copays, coinsurance, out-of-pocket maximums, and prior authorization
  • Experience discussing and collecting patient financial responsibility
  • Strong telephone and customer-service skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and documentation
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn new systems
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through without constant supervision
  • A professional, calm, compassionate manner with patients

Experience with AdvancedMD is highly desirable, but not required.

Experience in specialty medicine, wound care, physical therapy, imaging, ambulatory surgery, dental insurance, or another insurance-intensive healthcare environment would be especially relevant.

What Makes Someone Successful in This Position

Our ideal candidate is someone who is:

  • Accurate — insurance mistakes can lead to denied claims and unexpected patient balances
  • Confident — comfortable speaking with both insurance representatives and patients about financial matters
  • Persistent — willing to follow up until questions are answered
  • Organized — able to document conversations and keep multiple patient needs moving forward
  • Warm and professional — many of our patients are dealing with complex medical conditions and deserve exceptional service
  • Accountable — someone who takes ownership of their work and follows tasks through to completion

Schedule

  • Monday–Friday
  • Daytime hours
  • No evenings
  • No weekends
