Instructional Design Managers working remotely often encounter challenges related to communication, collaboration, and maintaining team cohesion. Managing a distributed team requires intentional strategies for clear communication, such as regular video meetings and collaborative project management tools. Another common challenge is ensuring consistent quality and alignment across projects, which can be addressed by establishing standardized processes and regular peer reviews. Building trust and engagement remotely also means fostering a supportive culture and providing opportunities for professional growth within the team.

Description
About the Role
We are seeking our first-ever Instructional Design Manager. This is a rare opportunity to build an instructional design practice from the ground up and leave a lasting mark on how a rapidly scaling SaaS company creates learning experiences. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Global Training & Enablement, you will have genuine ownership from day one.
This is a builder role. The person who thrives here gets excited by blank-slate problems, knows how to turn ambiguity into process, and can work cross-functionally to earn trust quickly. Your primary mandate is to establish the standards, SOPs, and best practices that define how NinjaOne designs and delivers training - inserting rigor and repeatability into workflows that currently lack a formal instructional design foundation.
Your work will span the full organization, touching new hire onboarding, revenue team readiness, and technical certification programs - giving you a platform to influence training quality at every level of the business.
Location - Hybrid in Austin, TX In the office 2-3 days per week (Mon, Tues, & Thurs)
What You'll be Doing
  • Establish the instructional design practice
  • Define NinjaOne's instructional design standards, methodology, and quality benchmarks
  • Create the SOP's, templates, and style guides that will govern how training content is built - auditing existing WorkRamp content and producing a remediation roadmap
  • Lead authoring tool strategy by evaluating NinjaOne's current content creation capabilities and build and presenting a business case for a dedicated SCORM/eLearning authoring platform
  • Own vendor evaluation, procurement, and team adoption of any new tooling
  • Partner with internal training, revenue enablement, and technical enablement teams to translate business needs into well-scoped learning solutions
  • Lead needs assessment and learning objective workshops to ensure projects start with clear outcomes and measurable goals
  • Personally design and develop high-quality instructional materials including eLearning modules, facilitator guides, assessments, and job aids
  • Establish a QA review process ensuring all deliverables meet standards for accuracy, accessibility, and brand consistency
  • Serve as the internal expert on instructional design, educating stakeholders and influencing how content requests are scoped
  • Manage the inbound instructional design queue
  • As the team grows, recruit and mentor junior instructional designers
  • Other duties as needed

About You
  • 5+ years of instructional design experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead capacity
  • Demonstrated ability to build or significantly mature an ID practice, including creating standards, SOPs, and repeatable processes where few or none existed
  • Experience leveraging AI tools to accelerate or enhance instructional design work - whether for content drafting, personalization, rapid prototyping, or learning analytics
  • Strong command of instructional design methodologies (ADDIE, SAM, or equivalent) and adult learning theory
  • Experience working with an LMS and familiarity with SCORM/xAPI standards
  • Excellent project management and stakeholder communication skills; able to manage multiple workstreams independently and set clear priorities
  • Experience partnering with cross-functional teams to scope and deliver training products including Sales, CS, and Technical functions
  • You align with our values Curiosity, Integrity, Kindness, Humility, & Builders and are committed to creating an environment where these values flourish in our teams
  • Hands-on experience with a SCORM authoring tool (e.g., Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate) or experience leading a tool selection and procurement process (preferred)
  • Familiarity with WorkRamp or similar LMS platforms used by SaaS revenue teams (preferred)
  • Background in a fast-growth B2B SaaS or technology company (preferred)
  • Experience building and managing a small team of instructional designers (preferred)
