Job description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Manager, Learning Management Systems, is a systems-focused role supporting the day-to-day operations of the Learning Management System (LMS) and the CRM platform (Salesforce) that power ISTE+ASCD's online courses, certifications, and the Learning Academy. Sitting within the Online Learning & Digital Innovation team, this role serves as the operational lead for the systems that connect learners, products, and revenue. The position is responsible for building and configuring course shells within the LMS, coordinating order processing and learner provisioning through Salesforce, and ensuring accurate, seamless data flow between both platforms. The Manager partners closely with instructional designers, media specialists, certification leads, and the Technology & Digital Strategy team to ensure courses are launched, learners are seamlessly enrolled, and operations run efficiently across the full course lifecycle. The position is hands-on and operationally focused, with equal emphasis on LMS operations and CRM administration.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Course Configuration & Lifecycle Management
  • Build, configure, and maintain course shells in the LMS based on instructional design specifications and approved SME documentation.
  • Manage the operational course lifecycle, including but not limited to: staging, launch, updates, and archival for ISTE+ASCD online courses, certifications, and Learning Academy offerings.
  • Maintain version control and update documentation as courses are revised, expanded, or sunset.
  • Apply HTML/CSS edits within the LMS as needed to ensure consistent branding, formatting, and learner experience.

Learner Experience & User Support
  • Serve as a first-line escalation point for learners and internal user issues within the LMS.
  • Triage support tickets, troubleshoot configuration issues, and coordinate resolutions with the Technology & Digital Strategy team, vendors, or instructional designers as needed.
  • Manage learner enrollment workflows, account provisioning, and access management across all online learning products.
  • Maintain help resources, FAQs, and how-to documentation for all ISTE+ASCD online offerings to reduce support volume and improve learner self-service.

CRM, Sales & Enrollment Coordination
  • Coordinate the flow of orders, enrollments, and learner data between Salesforce (or comparable CRM) and the LMS.
  • Support the sales team with order processing, license fulfillment, and learner provisioning for district and individual purchases.
  • Provide reporting on enrollments, completions, and engagement to inform sales, marketing, and product decisions.

Cross-Team Collaboration & Process Improvement
  • Collaborate with the Technology & Digital Strategy team on platform-level changes, integrations, and enhancements that affect ISTE+ASCD online offerings.
  • Partner with instructional designers and media specialists to translate course design into LMS implementation, providing technical feasibility input early in the design process.
  • Document and continuously improve ISTE+ASCD's LMS and CRM operation workflows, including course provisioning standards, enrollment procedures, and learner support processes.
  • Contribute to the Learning Academy's continued evolution by surfacing operational insights, themes from learner feedback, and patterns in the LMS experience.

PRIORITY WILL BE PROVIDED TO CANDIDATES LIVING IN THE DC METRO AREA (MD, DC, or Northern VA); you will be REQUIRED to come into the Arlington, VA office one day per week.
Knowledge
  • Bachelor's degree in education, instructional design, educational technology, or a related field; equivalent combination of work experience and education will be considered.
  • Working knowledge of Learning Management Systems; D2L Brightspace experience strongly preferred. Transferable LMS experience as an online instructor, LMS administrator, or course designer is welcome.
  • Understanding of online learning design principles and the adult learner experience.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or comparable CRM platforms (preferred); at a minimum, experience using a CRM in a prior role.
  • Understanding of the K-12 educator audience and the professional learning landscape.
  • Familiarity with digital credentialing concepts (Open Badges, Badgr, Credly) is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS for in-LMS content edits is preferred.

Skills and Abilities
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple job responsibilities through their lifecycle simultaneously and meet launch deadlines.
  • High attention to detail with a learner-first, operations-minded approach.
  • Comfort troubleshooting technical issues, identifying root causes, and escalating appropriately.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to translate technical information for non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace.
  • Strong customer-service orientation for both internal users (instructional designers, sales, finance) and external learners.
  • Ability to work independently as an individual contributor while collaborating effectively across teams.
  • Discretion in handling sensitive learner and account information.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new tools, platforms, and workflows as the Online Learning & Digital Innovation ecosystem evolves.

Experience
  • 3+ years of experience in edtech, online learning, K-12 education, professional learning, or an LMS-adjacent role.
  • Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following: online instructor, LMS administrator, instructional designer, or online course builder.
