An immigration case manager provides advocacy and case management services for immigrants. They may work with specific groups, such as refugee populations or undocumented or alien populations. Your duties and responsibilities in this career depend in large part on what group you represent. For example, some case managers provide orientation within the legal system to undocumented immigrants who have been detained by the federal government, helping them fill out legal residency applications or prepare for deportation. Others help documented immigrants by planning work visas and citizenship tests, conducting home and work evaluation assessments, and providing access to social services.

Effective case managers use specialized case management software, maintain detailed records, and prioritize strong communication with both clients and attorneys to ensure timely and accurate case progress. Building strong organizational habits and staying informed on policy changes are essential for success and reducing stress in this fast-paced environment.
