Job description

Hydraulic Controls, Inc. is a premier fluid power distributor with territories throughout the Western United States. Our Employee-Owners, along with our quality suppliers, have built our 50-year-strong reputation on ethical business practices, value-added customer service and local inventory.

SUMMARY:

Hydraulic Technicians troubleshoot and repair hydraulic products from experience and from factory work instructions to produce a timely and quality repair. They should possess the skills necessary to evaluate a hydraulic systemโ€™s performance by asking the right questions and once the area of concern is isolated, be able to diagnose the reason for failure and make recommended repairs, replacement or potential system upgrades.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ยท Performs a wide range of skilled operations such as cleaning, troubleshooting, disassembly, diagnosis, reassembly, testing, analysis and recommendation for hydraulic components in support of branch operations.

ยท Analyzes and troubleshoots hydraulic problems through use of test equipment, part identification, and research; Gathers facts and answers, โ€œWhy?โ€

ยท Executes corrective actions in resolving problems and validates results.

ยท Assembles, modifies, reworks, and/or reassembles components utilizing drawings, pick tickets, process documentation, and/or verbal instructions.

ยท Supports inventory handling and transactions by following established procedures for purchasing, use, and customer invoicing.

ยท Completes all required paperwork: prepares and maintains records of customer and supplier correspondence.

ยท Prepares and utilizes basic hand tools and machines including, but not limited to, power screwdriver, calipers, pressure gauges, oxy acetylene welding equipment, hydraulic test stand(s), solder iron, heat gun, vise, solder pot, hydraulic hose crimper, arbor press, band saw, and automatic wire stripper. Performs tool inventory.

ยท Performs clean-up, and tool inventory activities.

ยท Assists with identification of parts and bills of material as needed.

ยท Able to identify fitting types and plumbing sizes: NPT, SAE, JIC, Metrics.

ยท Possesses and maintains thorough knowledge of industry, machinery, and techniques.

ยท Possesses and maintains thorough knowledge of all applicable safety regulations and considerations, especially related to the safe use of hydraulics.

ยท Participates in continuous improvement and team building activities; maintains productive working relationships with all team members.

ยท Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

ยท High school diploma or equivalent

ยท 3-5+ years related experience or equivalent

ยท Ability to read and understand work instructions, schematics, assembly drawings, and technical documentation

ยท Knowledgeable with various mechanical, electrical and hydraulic measuring and test equipment.

ยท CFPS-certified a plus

ยท Commitment to excellence and high standards

ยท Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills

ยท Ability to manage priorities and workflow

ยท Ability to understand any and all safety requirements and cautions

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Frequently required to stand.

  • Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity.
  • Frequently works near moving mechanical parts.
