About Evansville Psychiatric Children’s Center:

The Evansville Psychiatric Children’s Center (EPCC) takes an interdisciplinary approach that provides strategies for the child’s biological, psychological and social treatment at the same time. All of our staff go through many hours of training to each play their important part in the approach. Youth are learning by two main methods, modeling and teaching, through therapeutic relationships established with the treatment staff.

Salary Statement:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $62,218.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day in the Life:

Program Administration Support

  • Prioritize and organize the daily care of patients/

  • Make care assignments and assist in developing treatment plans in collaboration with other clinical staff.

  • Direct support staff to coordinate workflow and communicate problems to unit supervisors.

  • Complete required documentation of nursing notes, transfer forms, and other records to ensure accurate and timely reporting.

  • Provide orientation and support to staff on the unit.

Program Management Support

  • Provide ongoing assessment and documentation of individuals' physical and psychosocial status from admission to discharge to inform care decisions.

  • Administer medications and treatments according to facility policies and procedures..

  • Develop and implement nursing care plans for diagnosis or treatment plan changes to adapt to evolving needs.

  • Complete medication administration supervision monitors and clinical observation notes for support staff.

  • Educate individuals and family members regarding medication, procedures, and treatment goals and objectives.

  • Respond and intervene in emergency situations and with agitated individuals to maintain safety and therapeutic environment.

  • Ensure proper safety and infection control standards are met for the unit to protect staff and individuals.

What You'll Need for Success:

Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:

  • Ability to understand and apply medical and facility terminology.

  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret nursing and facility policies and procedures.

  • Effective interpersonal skills, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Ability to serve as a patient advocate.

  • Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations and maintain composure under pressure.

  • Ability to support individuals with behavioral or emotional needs.

  • Proficiency in computer skills and ability to learn programs used in maintaining electronic medical records.

  • Ability to use MS Office applications and electronic patient records.

An Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution, an active Indiana Registered Nurse license, and current CPR certification, along with ongoing completion of behavioral intervention training relevant to the assigned setting.

Individuals should have the ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
