What are Human Resources Temps?

Human Resources Temps, also known as HR temporary staff, are short-term employees hired to assist the HR department with various tasks. They may handle responsibilities such as recruiting, onboarding, payroll processing, maintaining employee records, and supporting HR projects during busy periods or to cover absences. These positions typically last for a set period and allow organizations to maintain HR efficiency without committing to long-term employment. HR temps need strong organizational skills, discretion, and familiarity with HR processes or systems.

What Is a Human Resources Temp Job?

A human resources temp job is a temporary replacement for a full-time human resources employee or a non-permanent position to complete tasks for a human resources project. A company hires temps as fill-in workers for employees who are on sick leave, on vacation, or involved in professional development workshops. Your responsibilities in this position vary, depending on the type of job in which you work. HR temps can fill out or update employee records and databases, recruit new workers for the company, explain benefits packages to employees and help them enroll in the program, and perform payroll duties. You typically receive job assignments from a temp agency.

What types of projects or tasks can a Human Resources Temp expect to handle on a daily basis?

As a Human Resources Temp, you can expect to take on a variety of administrative and support tasks, such as assisting with onboarding new employees, maintaining personnel records, coordinating interview schedules, and supporting payroll or benefits processes. You may also be asked to help with data entry, file management, and responding to employee inquiries. The exact responsibilities often depend on the organization's immediate needs, but the role typically offers exposure to multiple facets of HR, providing valuable hands-on experience in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
