Job Summary
The Clinical Intern Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the administrative, clinical, and service delivery components of the clinical internship program. This role provides evidence-based clinical supervision, supports intern onboarding and offboarding, coordinates intern access to clinical services and assessments, evaluates intern performance, and collaborates closely with internal departments and external academic partners. The Clinical Intern Supervisor also maintains a direct service caseload while supporting the growth and quality of Josselyn's internship program.

Monday 12 PM - 8 PM, Tuesday 9 AM - 5 PM, Wednesday 12 PM - 8 PM, Thursday 9 AM - 5 PM, Friday 9 AM - 5 PM
Essential Responsibilities and Performance Metrics
  • Provide evidence-based, strengths-focused individual and/or group clinical supervision for up to 9 clinical interns annually (6 interns in the fall cohort and 3 interns in the January cohort).
  • Facilitate a weekly administrative and/or clinical supervision group for interns.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and document intern performance, including completion of direct service hours, assessments, clinical documentation, and overall professional development.
  • Support internship orientation, onboarding, and offboarding processes in collaboration with Human Resources and the Training Department.
  • Partner with the Director of Internships and Director of Training to provide administrative support related to assessments, SmartCare, documentation workflows, and clinical systems during orientation and the first two weeks of internship.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain operational systems to ensure interns receive appropriate assessments and clinical cases at the start of internship and to facilitate end-of-internship case transfers, potentially involving hundreds of client charts.
  • Coordinate with Intake and other internal departments to ensure interns have timely access to clinical cases and opportunities to accrue direct service hours.
  • Maintain regular communication with academic institutions, including meeting with university advisors as needed to assess intern progress and complete required school documentation.
  • Participate in the interviewing, selection, and placement of incoming intern cohorts.
  • Organize and facilitate two intern program events annually to promote community, engagement, and professional development.
  • Address intern performance, conduct, or behavioral concerns in a timely and professional manner, coordinating with universities and internal leadership as needed.
  • Maintain a minimum 35% direct service productivity rate and manage a clinical caseload following a three-month onboarding period.
  • Provide support to clinical and front office staff during crisis situations as needed.
  • Monitor and approve intern schedules and time-off requests to ensure adequate clinic coverage.
  • Participate in mandatory meetings, committees, quality improvement activities, and required in-service trainings.
  • Ensure adherence to all agency policies and procedures, including confidentiality, HIPAA, client rights, safety protocols, infection control, and incident reporting.
  • Assist the Director of Internships with pilot projects, program development initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts related to the internship program.
  • Complete additional assigned duties, including quarterly chart audits.

  • Licensure for independent clinical practice in the State of Illinois in a mental health or related field.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in evidence-based clinical counseling practices within outpatient mental health settings.
  • Minimum of two years of successful clinical supervision experience, preferred in an outpatient or community mental health environment.
  • Strong administrative, organizational, and supervisory skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and external partners.
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities in both short- and long-term contexts.
