What is an hourly BDR tech?

An Hourly BDR Tech, or Business Development Representative Technician, is responsible for supporting sales and business development teams by identifying potential leads, reaching out to prospects, and helping facilitate the sales process. Their duties often include cold calling, qualifying leads, scheduling meetings, and maintaining customer relationship management (CRM) systems. Unlike salaried positions, Hourly BDR Techs are paid based on the number of hours they work, offering flexibility and often serving as an entry point into sales or technology careers. The role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to engaging potential clients.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an hourly BDR tech?

To thrive as an Hourly BDR Tech (Boiler, Ductwork, or Building Damage Restoration Technician), you typically need a basic understanding of mechanical systems, troubleshooting skills, and a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with restoration equipment, HVAC tools, and specialized certifications like IICRC Water Restoration Technician (WRT) are often required. Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team set top performers apart. These skills and qualifications are crucial for ensuring efficient repairs, safety compliance, and high-quality service in restoration and maintenance environments.

What are some common challenges faced by hourly BDR techs and how can they be overcome?

Hourly BDR Techs often face challenges such as managing time efficiently across multiple service calls, troubleshooting diverse technical issues under time pressure, and keeping up with the latest building system technologies. Staying organized, seeking ongoing training, and fostering strong teamwork can help overcome these challenges and contribute to a positive work environment.
