How much do home based robotic simulation engineer jobs pay per year?

As of Aug 27, 2026, the average yearly pay for home based robotic simulation engineer in the United States is $105,605.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $83,500.00 and $127,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is a home based robotic simulation engineer?

Home Based Robotic Simulation Engineers are professionals who design, develop, and test robotic systems using simulation software, all while working remotely from their homes. They create virtual models of robotic equipment or processes to analyze performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize designs before actual implementation. This role typically involves using specialized simulation tools, collaborating with cross-functional teams online, and ensuring that robotic solutions meet technical and operational requirements.

How does a home based robotic simulation engineer typically collaborate with on-site engineering teams and clients?

A Home Based Robotic Simulation Engineer often works remotely but remains highly connected to both on-site engineering teams and clients through regular video meetings, screen sharing, and collaborative project management tools. They contribute by developing and testing robotic simulations, then sharing results and updates for review and feedback. Effective communication and documentation are crucial, as is the ability to troubleshoot issues remotely and align with the broader project goals. This collaborative approach ensures that simulation models are accurate and meet client specifications, while also supporting seamless integration with physical robotics systems.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a home based robotic simulation engineer, and why are they important?

A Home Based Robotic Simulation Engineer typically requires a background in robotics, computer science, or engineering, with strong programming skills in languages such as Python or C++. Familiarity with simulation tools like ROS (Robot Operating System), Gazebo, or MATLAB Simulink, and relevant certifications in robotics or automation are highly valued. Excellent problem-solving abilities, self-motivation, and effective remote communication skills help individuals excel in a virtual work environment. These competencies are crucial for developing accurate robotic simulations, collaborating with remote teams, and delivering innovative automation solutions.

Job description

PROJECT TITLE: Simulation Engineer to support GM ARC RTD Simulation testing workflow.
PURPOSE: Support the robotics software development team in establishing a daily simulation-testing workflow on a unified simulation platform. Assess available simulation platforms in the market and provide reports outlining which platforms are best suited for specific simulation scenarios. Develop standardized simulation workflows and build corresponding simulation tests based on these workflows. Execute simulation tests for defined use cases and evaluate system performance using the resulting data.
1.Deliverable D1 - Convert user cases into simulation cases
Work with internal and external users to deliver design of the simulation scenes in the simulation environments. The deliver of the simulation scenes shall be implementable and satisfactory to the users.
2.Deliverable D2 - Evaluate simulation platforms
Deliver the evaluation of the existing multiple simulation platforms and the performance metrics of the evaluated platforms.
3.Deliverable D3 - Build simulation workflow
Deliver multiple of simulation workflows that are fitful for the Cobot simulation user cases. Identify and/or build the necessary components that are need for the cobot simulation workflow.
4.Deliverable D4 - Build simulation test cases
Deliver the simulation tests cases with the definition of the testing scope, testing platform as well as the testing coverage for internal and external users.
5.Deliverable D5 - Evaluate the simulation results and system performance
Deliver the executed results of the simulation tests to the users and present the user the estimated system performance based on the simulation results.
Project Duration:
~40 weeks from the issuance of Purchase Order, approximate timing cadence for each deliverable, one for every 10 weeks according to scope and timing of the specific deliverable.
