Location: Montgomery, AL.

Contract- 2 Years

Client- Alabama Power.

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Supplemental Utility Arborist to join our team supporting Alabama Power’s Integrated Vegetation Management Program. This role is critical in monitoring contract tree crews performing routine vegetation maintenance along utility rights-of-way to ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards. The successful candidate will have a strong background in forestry or related fields, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently in outdoor environments.


Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and interact with contract tree crews performing vegetation maintenance on Alabama Power rights-of-way.

  • Conduct daily field inspections across multiple job sites, often working independently.

  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and external customers regarding project progress, compliance, and customer concerns.

  • Ensure adherence to safety standards and vegetation management protocols.

  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and navigate uneven terrain.

  • Provide feedback and documentation on vegetation management activities.


Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry, Environmental Sciences, Horticulture, or a related field preferred.

  • Prior experience in utility-based vegetation management is a plus.

  • Familiarity with local vegetation and the ability to identify regional trees and plants is highly desirable.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to self-manage tasks, time, and deadlines effectively.

Certifications (Preferred):

  • Alabama Certified Pesticide Applicator license.

  • ISA Certified Arborist certification.

Other Requirements:

  • Comfortable working independently for extended periods.

  • Physically capable of walking significant distances in field conditions.

  • Must live within commuting distance of the assigned territory.
