Job description

Benefits:
  • Company parties
  • Flexible schedule
  • Profit sharing

POSITION OVERVIEW
Higher Ground Integrated Human Services (IHS), Inc. is seeking a creative, entrepreneurial Photographer to operate and grow our on-site photography studio while teaching Beginner Photography Classes.
This is a profit-share opportunity, ideal for a photographer who wants access to studio space, built-in marketing support, and a platform to generate income through classes, sessions, and studio use — without the overhead of owning a studio.
This role is not employment. It is a business partnership-style contract where the photographer collects revenue and pays a percentage as a facility and studio usage fee.
COMPENSATION STRUCTURE (PROFIT-SHARE)
  • Photographer retains 60% of all gross photography-related revenue

  • Higher Ground retains 40% as a Studio & Facility Rental Fee

  • Photographer collects all payments directly
  • No income cap — earnings scale with class attendance and bookings
Revenue sources may include:
  • Beginner photography classes
  • Private photography sessions
  • Studio photo shoots
  • Workshops or themed sessions
  • Portfolio-building sessions
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Photography Instruction
  • Design and teach Beginner Photography Classes (camera basics, composition, lighting, settings, etc.)
  • Lead small group classes and hands-on sessions
  • Create a welcoming, supportive learning environment
  • Set class schedules in coordination with Higher Ground
Studio Operations
  • Operate and maintain the photography studio during scheduled use
  • Ensure studio is clean, organized, and ready for sessions
  • Manage studio time usage efficiently
  • Follow all facility rules and shared space expectations
Creative & Business Development
  • Develop class offerings, workshops, or session packages
  • Assist with promotional content (photos, flyers, sample work)
  • Collaborate with Higher Ground on scheduling and marketing
  • Build a consistent presence that attracts repeat clients and students
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Photography experience (professional or advanced hobbyist)
  • Strong understanding of camera fundamentals (DSLR or mirrorless)
  • Ability to teach beginners clearly and patiently
  • Comfortable working with diverse age groups and skill levels
  • Reliable, organized, and professional
  • Entrepreneurial mindset — motivated by profit share, not hourly pay
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Teaching, mentoring, or workshop experience
  • Studio photography experience
  • Familiarity with lighting equipment and basic studio setups
  • Social media or portfolio showcasing photography work
INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR STATUS
  • This is a contractor role

  • Photographer is responsible for:
    • Collecting payments
    • Managing their own taxes
    • Providing basic equipment unless otherwise agreed
  • Photographer may not represent themselves as an employee of Higher Ground
WHAT HIGHER GROUND PROVIDES
  • Access to photography studio space
  • Scheduling coordination
  • Marketing and promotional support
  • Booking infrastructure (if applicable)
  • A built-in audience for classes and creative programming
  • Opportunity to scale income without studio overhead
IDEAL CANDIDATE
This role is perfect for someone who:
  • Loves photography and teaching
  • Wants studio access without long-term lease costs
  • Is ready to grow their brand through classes and sessions
  • Prefers profit potential over hourly pay

HOW TO APPLY
Interested candidates should submit:
  • A brief introduction
  • Photography portfolio or sample work (link or files)
  • Description of the beginner photography class they would like to teach
