These positions usually require advanced technical skills, certifications, and experience managing complex systems or projects in healthcare settings.

What is the most used software in healthcare?

Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems are the most widely used software in healthcare, with popular platforms including Epic, Cerner, and Meditech. Healthcare software professionals often need knowledge of these systems, along with skills in data management and compliance standards like HIPAA.

What are some typical challenges faced when working in a healthcare software position, and how are they addressed?

Working in healthcare software often involves navigating strict compliance requirements, such as HIPAA regulations, while developing secure and efficient systems for sensitive patient data. Professionals in this field may face challenges integrating new applications with legacy hospital systems or adapting software to fit unique clinical workflows. These challenges are typically addressed by ongoing collaboration with clinicians, IT security experts, and compliance officers, as well as continuous professional development to stay current with healthcare technology regulations. As a result, healthcare software professionals gain valuable experience solving complex technical problems with real-world impact, making the role both demanding and highly rewarding.

Job description

Position: .Net/React Full-Stack Developer

Location: Davis, CA

Duration: Full-Time

Note: Initially onsite for a few months, then hybrid (2 days onsite per week).

Job Description:

Cedaron Medical Inc. is a privately held healthcare software company with more than 35 years of experience and the agility of a software startup. We build specialized web applications that connect hospital data systems, centralize discipline-specific information, improve data quality, and enable real-time reporting for physicians, surgeons, administrators, and healthcare organizations.

Our work helps customers track metrics, improve quality of care, and identify opportunities for better outcomes. At Cedaron, your contributions are visible and impactful: you will help shape and own meaningful features in a growing product suite with a long runway for innovation.

Cedaron is seeking a resourceful, detail-oriented Software Engineer to help build and improve healthcare software applications using C#, .NET, SQL Server, and React. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving practical engineering problems, working across the full stack, and building reliable software that supports real-world clinical and administrative workflows.

We are looking for a developer who can think critically, communicate clearly, take ownership of features, and contribute to well-designed systems that are maintainable, scalable, and useful to our customers.

What Youโ€™ll Do

In this role, you will help design, build, and improve Cedaronโ€™s healthcare software platform. Responsibilities may include:

  • Building and maintaining web applications using C#, .NET, SQL Server, React, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Developing new features across the application stack, from database design and backend services to responsive user interfaces.
  • Designing and optimizing SQL Server queries, stored procedures, schemas, and reporting-related data structures.
  • Improving performance, usability, reliability, and maintainability across Cedaronโ€™s applications.
  • Debugging complex issues across frontend, backend, database, and integration layers.
  • Collaborating with other developers, QA, support, and product stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Integrating with hospital systems, third-party APIs, and healthcare data workflows.
  • Writing clear, maintainable code and participating in code reviews, technical discussions, and design decisions.
  • Taking ownership of assigned features from concept through implementation, testing, deployment, and support.

What Weโ€™re Looking For

The ideal candidate has demonstrated voluntary initiative in a workplace environment before and is comfortable taking ownership of a feature, understanding the business need behind it, and delivering a thoughtful technical solution.

Weโ€™re generally looking for someone with several years of professional software development experience and meaningful hands-on experience building production web applications with C#, .NET, SQL Server, and React.

From a technical standpoint, we are looking for someone with experience or strong familiarity in:

  • Strong professional experience with C# and the .NET ecosystem.
  • Experience building web applications using  MVCWeb API, or related .NET frameworks.
  • Strong experience with SQL Server, including writing and optimizing queries, stored procedures, indexes, and relational database designs.
  • Experience with React and modern frontend development practices.
  • Familiarity with JavaScriptTypeScriptHTML, and CSS.
  • Ability to work across the full stack and understand how frontend, backend, and database layers interact.
  • Strong debugging skills and the ability to investigate unfamiliar systems.
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable, well-structured code.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical problems clearly to both developers and non-developers.
  • Ability to take ownership, make thoughtful engineering decisions, and follow through on implementation details.
  • Interest in learning new technologies, improving existing systems, and contributing to long-term product quality.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with healthcare software, medical data, hospital systems, or compliance-related workflows.
  • Experience with integrations, APIs, HL7, FHIR, Epic Clarity, Epic Caboodle or other healthcare data exchange standards.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML tools or interest in integrating intelligent features into existing applications.

Important technologies for this position include C#, .NET, SQL Server, React, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.

Benefits

Cedaron offers a competitive benefits package, including:

  • Healthcare coverage
  • Dental coverage
  • 401(k) plan with a 4% company match
  • Opportunity to work with a collaborative team in Davis, California
  • Opportunity to contribute directly to healthcare software used by physicians, surgeons, administrators, and healthcare organizations
