Job description

The HAP Accountant is responsible for providing accurate and timely information to internal and external customers regarding Housing Authority accounting needs. This position will also perform monthly audits to insure program compliance.

What You'll Do

  • Provide the financial data on the RTA packets for a prospective Resident

  • Access Housing Authority portals to extract payment information

  • Create receipt batches in Yardi to apply HAP payments

  • Research HAP and Resident AR balances on the Resident ledger to determine accuracy of the payment application

  • Communicate with Property Management field personnel and HAP Authorities to resolve discrepancies and share HAP correspondence

  • Review HAP contracts and the Resident's lease to verify charges

Who We're Looking For

  • BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, or Economics preferred

  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience

  • Real estate development, hospitality, and/or property management experience preferred

  • Knowledge of HUD policies and regulations

  • Knowledge and use of Yardi property management software preferred

  • Intermediate Excel user with ability to export / create documents for internal reporting

  • Entry-level knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

  • Strong written/oral and interpersonal communication skills; ability to communicate in a professional manner with all levels in the organization, across functional groups

  • Ability to communicate processes / procedures in an easily comprehensible manner

  • Analytical; with the ability to interpret medium to complex issues, analyze multiple variables, to determine the root problem and bring issues to a successful conclusion in a high-volume fast paced environment

  • Organized and flexible; with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines

  • Accuracy; with the ability to audit / reconcile resident ledgers and accounting systems to ensure data integrity

Salary RangeThe salary range for this position is: $23.78 - $41.22, plus individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Actual compensation within the range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and applicable employment laws.Compensation and Benefits
