Job description

A funeral assistant is a integral part of the funeral business. As a funeral assistant you will trained to perform many of the functions required to keep a funeral home moving. Some of the services you will perform will include: removal of deceased individuals from homes, hospitals, crime scenes. Answering phones, learning funeral etiquette in speaking with families, nurses, doctors, running errands, sitting in office to cover days off of director, driving to medical examiner, picking up death certificates, taking calls at night from answering service for removals two to three days a week after hours. Assisting during funeral services, memorial services, following the direction of the funeral director
Requirements
Be comfortable with death and touching, handling, moving, storing deceased individuals in all states passing. Being able to lift minimal 50#s, use a removal cot in transporting bodies. Answering phones if needed, providing information to those callers. Taking information for any first calls that come in for removals. Cleaning of mortuary will be needed, dusting, moping, vacuuming of floors, cleaning bathrooms, laundry. Standing during funeral services, visitations, memorials, graveside services, greeting attendees of the services. You will be required to drive companies vehicles during day or night times. A clean driving record is required. Must live within a 25 minute driving radius of the funeral home.
