How to become a funeral assistant?

Career: Funeral Assistant

To become a funeral assistant, you only need a high school diploma or GED certificate. While some employers may prefer an associate degree in mortuary science, this is an entry-level position that does not usually require post-secondary education. You should receive extensive on-the-job training from the funeral director. While most of the skills you learn will be related to event planning and preparation, you may also learn some basic mortuary practices, which will give you excellent experience to advance your career. If you hope to one day become a funeral director, you should pursue a post-secondary degree.
