Pay: $28.47 per hour

Schedule: Full-Time, 8-hour shifts

Impact lives with Management & Training Corporation (MTC)! At the North Central Correctional Complex in Marion, Ohio, our foundation is based upon the philosophies of caring about others, giving back, and making a social impact. We provide a safe and secure working environment for our staff while helping an at-risk population receive the treatment necessary for success on their road back to a healthy, productive life.

Essential Duties:

  1. Plan and direct library program for inmates.
  2. Develop library policies and programs and prepare operational budgets.
  3. Provide readers' advisory services on the basis of knowledge of current reviews and bibliographies.
  4. Select, acquire and organize library materials for convenient access.
  5. Review requests and select books and other library materials according to mental state, educational background, and special needs of inmates.
  6. Assemble book reviews for institution's bulletins or newspapers and circulates reviews among inmates.
  7. Provide disabled or bedridden inmates with reading aids, such as prism glasses, page turners, book stands, talking books or phonograph records.
  8. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.

Qualifications:

  • Master of Library Science (MLS) required.
  • One (1) year related experience and valid Learning Resources Certification required. 
  • A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the master level requirement where the librarian is supervised by a full-time master level librarian in a multi complex model.
  • A valid driver's license in the state of Ohio with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
  • Must successfully complete all annual in-service requirements.
