Epsilon is a leader in the Off-Site Construction (OSC) industry, delivering modular, prefabricated mechanical and electrical systems designed to streamline on-site installation.
We are seeking an accurate and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team in Tuscaloosa, Alabama for a fully on-site role. You will be responsible for end-to-end payroll operations for both hourly and salaried field and office employees using Ceridian/Dayforce. The ideal candidate manages complex payroll adjustments, handles authorized withdrawals from company bank accounts, submits retirement contributions, and ensures strict legal and union compliance across the state.
Responsibilities
  • Full-Cycle Payroll: Process bi-weekly or weekly payrolls for all salaried and hourly employees in Dayforce, reviewing timesheets for accuracy, overtime, and project allocations.
  • Adjustments & Deductions: Process special pay items including bonuses, retro pay, and per diems, as well as involuntary deductions like wage garnishments and tax levies.
  • Banking & Disbursements: Initiate direct deposits, cut manual checks, and execute accurate withdrawals and transfers from the company bank account to fund payroll and associated liabilities.
  • Benefits Administration: Calculate, record, and submit timely retirement and benefits payments to John Hancock and other designated plan administrators.
  • Tax & Year-End Reporting: Reconcile payroll data, manage Alabama and federal tax compliance, and accurately generate, file, and distribute W-2 forms annually.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain confidential, organized electronic and physical payroll files, resolve payroll discrepancies, and field employee pay inquiries.

Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of dedicated payroll experience, with hands-on experience using Dayforce. Experience within the construction industry is highly preferred.
  • System Proficiency: Strong proficiency in Dayforce or Ceridian modules and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Financial Acumen: Direct experience coordinating bank transactions, wire transfers, and reconciling accounts.
  • Compliance Knowledge: Deep understanding of Alabama employment laws, FLSA standards, tax regulations, and processing wage garnishments.
  • Soft Skills: Strong critical thinking for auditing, high ethical standards regarding confidential information, and excellent communication skills.
