Job description

We are looking for an energetic & compassionate individual to join our staff. Working under the supervision of the Community Food Bank Coordinator, you will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks involved with the support of the day-to-day operations of the Food Bank. Must be able to stay on task when working alone, be willing to collaborate with team members and show an interest in supporting those in our community when they visit our Food Bank as well as any volunteers that may be also working in the Food Bank.

This is a very physical job which will require; bending, lifting, stretching & loading product in and out of vehicles.

Food Bank Operations

  • Organize Food Bank as directed
  • Prepares Food Bank for distributions through tasks such as stocking shelves and prepping food boxes
  • Assist with Food Bank distributions
  • Assist with home deliveries when needed
  • Organize and assist with Food Bank and Community Kitchen cleaning and sanitizing
  • Gleans through produce to redistribute to customers
  • Food preservation and food repacking as directed
  • May assist donors and/or recipients as designated
  • Calling and coordinating deliveries
  • Assisting with inventory and ordering
  • Assisting with scheduling food bank participants in Pantrysoft

Organize Food Bank

  • Daily restocking and unloading of food to and from storage containers, refrigerator, and freezer.
  • Make sure that received food is sorted, stocked, and stored in an appropriate manner
  • Ensure proper refrigeration of frozen items and perform rotation duties as necessary
  • Weigh all food items when brought to the agency; complete log in form, inventory donations, and provide receipts to donors

Cleaning & Sanitizing

  • Ensure cleanliness of the Food Bank
  • Make sure all surfaces, including carts, in the Food Bank are sanitized in accordance with the current protocols for CAC
  • Sweep and mop floor

Food Bank Distribution

  • Assist with the setup and cleanup of all food distributions
  • Responsible for creating boxes to be delivered during curbside pickup
  • Work with Volunteer Coordinator on planning volunteer opportunities and overseeing volunteers during shifts.

  • Valid drivers license / No issues being insured for motor vehicle coverage
  • Daily work occurs in varying temperatures, which may include heat and rain
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, reach, lift and bending
  • Ability to repeatedly lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and manipulate heavy objects
  • Requires Standing and/or lifting 80% of the time
  • Ability to aquire a valid food handlers permit
  • Abilty to pass background check and drug test

Education and Experience (may be waived based on prior level of experience)

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of relevant experience preferred
  • **** Spanish Speaking- not required but would be a benefit to our clients
