ABOUT THE ROLE
The Fintech Implementation Senior Director is a senior contributor within MVB's Enterprise Enablement department, serving in a player-coach capacity to lead both the execution of fintech partner implementations and the team members who deliver them. This role is accountable for end-to-end implementation of MVB's fintech partners, orchestrating cross-functional teams to deliver programs on scope, on schedule, and in full compliance with MVB's operational and regulatory standards. With 1-2 direct reports, this role requires a high-ownership operator who leads by example and develops team capability. The role carries direct accountability to the Fintech Business function and partners closely with the PMO to ensure implementation work is accurately estimated, prioritized, and visible within the broader portfolio. The Fintech Implementation Senior Director serves as a first-line operational risk owner and a credible, steady presence in MVB's fintech delivery organization.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Implementation Planning & Delivery
  • Intake completed Product Specification Documents (PSDs) and develop detailed implementation plans in coordination with all key functional areas
  • Define project milestones, timelines, and resource requirements for each fintech implementation
  • Manage partner activities to maintain scope alignment, and proactively identify scope changes that may impact the broader program
  • Identify, track, and manage dependencies with core bank functions throughout the implementation lifecycle

Project Management & Program Oversight
  • Apply structured project management discipline across all fintech implementations, ensuring consistent use of project tracking tools, documentation standards, and delivery frameworks
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, risk logs, and status reporting in alignment with PMO standards, while retaining day-to-day execution ownership within the Operations function
  • Drive accountability across cross-functional workstreams by establishing clear owners, milestones, and escalation paths for each implementation
  • Partner with the PMO to ensure implementation projects are accurately scoped, capacity-estimated, and appropriately sequenced within the broader enterprise portfolio, surfacing tradeoffs and constraints proactively
  • Identify and implement process improvements that strengthen implementation rigor and repeatability over time

Client & Partner Engagement
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for external fintech partners throughout the implementation lifecycle, guiding clients through complex, multi-phase onboarding processes with clarity and professionalism
  • Translate technical and operational requirements into actionable steps for business clients, demonstrating a strong working knowledge of fintech products, banking infrastructure, and BaaS environments
  • Manage client expectations, communicate status and risks proactively, and maintain a high standard of responsiveness and service throughout engagement
  • Build trusted relationships with fintech partners by combining deep subject matter expertise with disciplined project execution

Account & System Configuration
  • Orchestrate partner account setup across relevant operational teams, ensuring readiness at each stage of the implementation lifecycle
  • Oversee configuration of payments settlement accounts and end-customer account setup
  • Ensure reconciliation and billing are properly configured prior to go-live
  • Ensure successful integration to reconciliation systems

Testing & Quality Assurance
  • Coordinate and execute integration testing with third parties, including connectivity with the Core banking platform
  • Lead data testing, payments testing, and end-customer account opening connectivity validation
  • Manage client product alpha testing within scopes defined in coordination with Operations teams and the second line
  • Monitor Friends & Family testing phases and escalate issues as appropriate

Reporting & Stakeholder Communication
  • Deliver clear, consistent implementation status reporting to senior stakeholders, translating project complexity into actionable insights and decision points
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date implementation status documentation
  • Escalate risks, blockers, and scope changes through appropriate channels in a timely manner

Operational Risk - First Line
  • Apply MVB's operational risk standards throughout all implementation activities
  • Identify and flag implementation-related risks and control gaps to the appropriate risk and compliance partners
  • Ensure implementations adhere to regulatory requirements and internal policy standards

Additional Responsibilities
  • Manage, mentor, and develop 1-2 direct reports who perform implementation work, providing day-to-day guidance, workload oversight, and ongoing coaching to build a high-performing implementation team
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Fintech Implementation function
  • Collaborate with the Fintech Business team on network integration tasks (e.g., BIN setup, card art approval, card printing) as needed, deferring lead responsibility to the appropriate functional owner
  • Shape the evolution of implementation standards and playbooks, contributing institutional knowledge that strengthens MVB's fintech delivery capability over time

EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Operations, or a related field
  • 10+ years of project management or implementation experience, with meaningful exposure to financial services, fintech, or banking operations
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent, complex projects with cross-functional stakeholders in a matrixed organization
  • Strong client-facing experience working directly with business clients in a fintech, BaaS, or bank-fintech partnership context
  • Deep understanding of banking operations, including payments, settlement, reconciliation, and account setup processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience producing status reports and leading executive-level conversations
  • Proficiency with project management tools, methodologies, and structured delivery frameworks

Preferred

  • PMP, CAPM, or equivalent project management certification
  • Understanding of first-line operational risk principles and banking compliance requirements
  • Experience with payments testing, data testing, or end-customer account onboarding

Competencies

  • Client Engagement - Builds trusted relationships with fintech business clients, communicating complex project details with clarity and professionalism
  • Fintech Fluency - Brings a working knowledge of fintech products, BaaS models, and bank-fintech partnership dynamics that enables credible client and stakeholder engagement
  • Stakeholder Management - Builds trust and communicates effectively with internal teams, external partners, and leadership
