What is fintech implementation?

Fintech Implementation refers to the process of integrating financial technology solutions into existing business operations or launching new fintech products and services. This involves selecting appropriate technologies, customizing systems, migrating data, ensuring regulatory compliance, and training staff. The goal is to enhance efficiency, improve customer experience, and maintain security within financial services. Successful implementation requires collaboration between technical teams, business stakeholders, and regulatory experts. It is a critical step for organizations aiming to stay competitive in the rapidly evolving financial sector.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a fintech implementation specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Fintech Implementation Specialist, you need a solid background in financial services, project management, and technical integration, often supported by a degree in business, finance, or information technology. Familiarity with API integrations, CRM systems, digital payment platforms, and project management tools (such as Jira or Trello) is typically required, and certifications like PMP or Agile can be advantageous. Strong analytical thinking, effective communication, and problem-solving skills help professionals navigate client requirements and facilitate smooth product deployments. These skills ensure successful implementation of fintech solutions, leading to client satisfaction and streamlined financial operations.

What are some common challenges faced during the implementation of fintech solutions, and how can they be addressed?

Fintech Implementation professionals often encounter challenges such as integrating new technologies with legacy systems, ensuring regulatory compliance, and managing stakeholder expectations. Successfully addressing these challenges requires clear communication with technical teams, thorough planning for data migration, and close collaboration with compliance departments to meet legal standards. Proactive risk assessments and regular updates with stakeholders can also help ensure smooth project delivery and minimize disruptions.

Is fintech a high paying career?

Fintech implementation roles often offer competitive salaries, especially for professionals with skills in software development, data analysis, and financial regulations. Salaries vary based on experience, location, and company size, but many positions in fintech are considered well-paying within the tech and finance industries.

Through these partnerships, Celtic provides a diverse array of consumer and small business loan and financing solutions. The FinTech Program Manager will lead all interactions between the Bank and designated fintech partners.

The role monitors partner programs against contractual, regulatory, and risk requirements; coordinates with Risk, Compliance, Credit, Legal, and Operations to resolve issues; and reports program performance and risk to senior management. This position supports the Bank's growth in partner loan volume while keeping assigned programs operating within approved risk and compliance parameters.
This is a full-time, exempt, hybrid role based in Salt Lake City with limited travel required.
Responsibilities

  • Monitor daily and weekly loan origination volume, approval rates, and portfolio performance for assigned program(s) against contractual thresholds and risk limits.
  • Lead recurring partner check-in calls and serve as the primary interface between the Bank, partner, and credit card networks, managing network-related projects to completion.
  • Coordinate with partner operations teams to resolve loan-level exceptions, funding delays, and data reconciliation discrepancies.
  • Interact daily with Compliance and other internal departments on ongoing partner oversight.
  • Manage the review and approval of partner marketing materials, policies, procedures and processes.
  • Track open action items from partner meetings, audits, and internal risk reviews through to resolution.
  • Perform periodic risk-based reviews of partner adherence to Program Agreements and applicable regulations; prepare and present performance and risk reports to senior management.
  • Analyze new product offerings proposed by partners and provide recommendations to senior management.
  • Manage the resolution and reporting of customer complaints in coordination with Compliance and the fintech partner.
  • Coordinate onboarding, due diligence, and implementation of new partner programs, and support amendments, extensions, or renewals of existing Program Agreements.
  • Support third-party audits, regulatory exams, and internal audits of assigned partner programs.
  • Maintain program documentation, including partner agreements, policies, procedures, and change logs.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in consumer and/or commercial banking, fintech partnerships, or compliance/operations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for both internal teams and external partners, including senior management.
  • Excellent people-management and interpersonal skills; able to work independently and complete assigned projects with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess complex issues, identify solutions, and balance competing priorities.
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule and travel as required for special projects and partner needs.
  • Solid working knowledge of standard computer systems, software, and evolving technology.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience managing bank-fintech (bank-as-a-service) lending partnership programs.
  • Familiarity with BSA/AML and fair lending compliance monitoring.
  • Experience with SQL or other data query tools.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience working with credit card networks and implementing new credit card products.
  • Strong knowledge of the current banking regulatory environment.
  • Experience working with regulators, such as the FDIC and Utah Department of Financial Institutions.
  • Experience with Salesforce.

Benefits
  • Medical, dental, vision
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Life and long-term disability coverage
  • HSA and FSA plans
  • Holidays and paid time off requests
  • Employee Recognition Program
  • Robust wellness program (we're talking catered meals three times a weeks, lunch and learns, and onsite gym.)
