Job description

Location: Houston, TX (100% On-site)

Reports To: President / Owner

Compensation: $100,000-$110,000 + Performance Bonus (DOE)

Position Overview

A well-established and growing door manufacturing company in the Houston area, currently operating at approximately $10 Million in annual revenue, is seeking a hands‑on Controller.

This is a confidential search. The company is in the critical phases of upgrading its financial and operational tech stack, transitioning from legacy Sage software to a modern integration of Odoo and QuickBooks Online (QBO). The ideal candidate will be a focused financial leader who thrives in transitional environments and can successfully spearhead, clean up, and finalize this systems migration while maintaining day‑to‑day accounting integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Systems Migration & Optimization: Take immediate ownership of the transition from Sage to Odoo (ERP/Inventory) and QuickBooks Online. Standardize workflows, map data accurately, and ensure a clean cutover.
  • Daily Financial Operations: Oversee all daily accounting functions including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll, cash flow management, and General Ledger maintenance.
  • Cost Accounting & Inventory: Establish and monitor standard costs for manufacturing (lumber, hardware, glass, labor). Conduct rigorous reconciliations between Odoo inventory tracking and the general ledger.
  • Financial Reporting: Deliver timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year‑end financial statements directly to ownership.
  • Focus & Change Management: Maintain organizational focus and team morale during the system transition, ensuring no details fall through the cracks.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience: 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years as a Controller or Assistant Controller in a manufacturing or assembly environment (door/building materials manufacturing is a massive plus).
  • Systems Transition Expertise (Required): Proven experience leading or heavily participating in an ERP/accounting software migration.
  • Software Proficiency:
    • Direct experience with Odoo (or similar manufacturing ERPs like NetSuite, JobBOSS) is highly preferred.
    • Direct experience with QuickBooks Online is required.
    • Familiarity with legacy Sage systems (to extract and map historical data) is a strong plus.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required. CPA or CMA is preferred but not required.
  • Attributes: Exceptional focus under pressure, a problem‑solving mindset, and a desire to be "hands‑on" rather than just a delegator.

Why This Opportunity?

  • The "Clean Up" Hero: You will have the opportunity to walk into a transition, put your stamp on the new system, and be the leader who streamlines operations for a $10M business.
  • Competitive Houston Compensation: We offer a highly competitive salary, performance‑based bonuses tied to a successful transition, and a robust benefits package.
  • Confidentiality Assured: All inquiries and applications will be held in the strictest confidence.
